Put him up for sale and you'd get £20M minimum. That's how limited he is.
I don't think we would get 20m. I think 15 would be McCarthy's price.

We bought Besic for 4m and Cleverly was available for 7m. Are both those players that far below McCarthy?

It's like when we think Baines is going to be sold for 25m and then Utd come in for him for around 10m and frankly that was more his price. We robbed a desperate Utd with Fellaini but lightning doesn't strike twice.

We as fans have a far higher opinion of our players than other teams. McCarthy is a decent workmanlike premier league midfielder however he's not a 20m pound man and neither is Coleman. Baines was 4 seasons ago but wasn't by the time Moyes tried to buy him.

Yes mate you know I hold the majority of the players accountable for this joke of a season. The problem I have is that you simply can't sack 11 players who have underperformed for the whole season. It just doesn't happen. Someone takes the fall for that and that has to go straight down to the manager as these are supposedly playing his tactics and following his orders.

I simply can't stomach these gang of shythouses under his stewardship any longer Dave so something should give imo.

Assuming we scrape through this season 14th or whatever, a continuation of this type of form and lack of cohesion and I would basically give him no longer than 6 games next season. I wouldn't dare wait until October to write off another season. Pressure is all on him, Evertonians will back endeavour, honesty, commitment and desire but they won't be taken by fools rolling out soundbites that have little to no meaning to what we are witnessing on the pitch.

Roll on Sunday and lets see which Everton turn up ;)
That's fair enough. I dont think anyone would argue against a scenario where he has to hit the ground running next season.

Why has he not been sacked yet? I guess it takes time to draw up a severance package, so hopefully we will hear something soon.
Robert Martins (the bore) OUT, Frank De Boer IN.

I dont think McCarthy would be out of place in a top four team. He's had injuries to contend with this season, but he's still shown flashes of form that remind you of last season when he was easily one of the stars of the PL at what he does.

For me the left side of the three behind the striker has been a big problem. His persistence in playing guys who are more comfortable through the middle. I know his hands have been tied at times with wide players being unavailable, or just completely out of form. However, he needed to find a better solution early on in the season when it was obvious that his tactics and team selection weren't working.

The thing that gets me about Martinez is that he doesn't show that he learns from anything. We had a terrible defense and he finally secured it with a back four of Robles, Baines, Jags, Stones and Coleman, then he changes it again as soon as he gets the chance. The games where we've played the best recently have all been without Barry, and yet he walks back into the team even time he's available. It's like he just stumbles on a good formation, doesn't realise it's happened and moves on to the next one.

In todays market McCarthy is at least £20m. Coleman last season would have cost someone £20m as he was arguably the most effective full back in the league.

The thing with us fans is that when its going well we obviously dont say anything but when it goes bad all of a sudden Barry is a terrible transfer, Kone is a terrible transfer, McGeady is a terrible transfer.

Barry last year was superb, if we hadnt of signed him up we would have gone mental. Kone was very unlucky with injuries and actually in my opinion could still have a future as a squad player for us. McGeady blows hot and cold but has shown in flashes what he can do.

You need a bit of luck with transfers unless you are paying mega bucks and even then you arent guaranteed- £50m for Torres ffs etc etc. The players that Martinez have signed like McCarthy, Lukaku, Besic, Deulofeu and maybe even Robles are young and gifted that had/can have an impact on our club.

I think he needs the summer to see what he can do, get rid of the dirty apples and bring in some new blood to freshen the place up again. If we are still looking shaky come October we need to have a look at it.

I have a massive belief that this second season has bit him in the ass and certain players who took to him last season arent pulling their weight this year.
I wonder how many where performing to get into their squads for the World Cup last year.

What does he do?
Scores goals? No
Create assists? No
Spray penetrative passes? No
Shield the defense? Evidently not
Retain possession? Struggled to do that at times and certainly not as a team.

What is it exactly McCarthy does apart from run around loads? I would love to know.
