It's not success, but it was great wasn't it? Or is someone new coming in and getting more points in the PL than any other Everton manager in his first season just seem as run of the mill by you?

football didnt start in 1992

Did people really see some change against Newcastle? The positive was no Barry (not out of choice though) and two strikers, but one goal was jammy and the other the penalty. The third came when the game was over, playing against ten men who have shown zero effort when playing as eleven. Was happy about the win, cos it was three really, really, really valuable points, that, boy, we are going to need. But little of it made me think Roberto had turned a corner. And just you watch, nothing will change from here until the end. I don't believe it's because of philosophy anymore. Worse. It's cos he really is inept. So inept he can't learn from his mistakes. And the worst thing a manager can be is inflexible.

That Goal article and the interview are so depressing. He's completely blind. Even Fergie wouldn't try to ignore/hide that shocking defending display.

Martinez has a certain way of dealing with the media, he's constantly positive, even if sometimes he shouldn't be. But i really doubt thats how he speaks to the players in the dressing room. Alcaraz will be getting a b*llocking as we speak. The team has without a doubt turned a corner, even if it isn't a massive improvement, they've been playing far more forward, far more confidently. I agree Newcastle is nothing to get excited about, but there is definitely progress over the last few games. Just hope they can pick themselves up after tonights disappointment. Really didn't play too badly, should've ended up with four goals to the good, and conceded to wonder goals and three c**k ups from a 4th choice mentally challenged paraguayan with two left feet. The rest of the team played well, despite some bad decisions on the team sheet. The one thing i can't forgive Martinez for though is his continuing insistence to play Barry, who has done absolutely nothing all season to warrant selection over Gibson or even Besic. No need to start Naismith tonight either, Ossie should've been on from the start, he provides a lot more.

There's only one thing that matters, and it's not the result in Europe tonight: it's the PL place being secured. We'll have gone a long way to that if we get a result at QPR on Sunday and that'll be about it as far as struggling this season goes.

It's clear from all the reaction around the last league game that the players are with him, so it's time to just get the season finished off and put it behind us.

These no stomach to be sacking a manager at board room level. He's signed up for 5 years and he'll get at least up to next Christmas to prove we're on the right track.

The scaremongers on this forum have a lot to answer for.

i think we all know the equation for success for the rest of the season

4 games = 2 wins = 8 points

So Martinez has "no regrets" over picking Alcaraz over Stones because Alcaraz has been playing well last couple of games, but when Robles was playing well Howard came straight back in when he was fit? Absolute whopper!!!
