Thats not really true, I didnt want him, but I gain no satisfaction from our current plight, nor do I want him sacked and at no point have I seriously wanted him gone, I just want the manager we had last season, the fella that motivated the players, the fella that picked balanced sides which played some great football and played "most" teams we faced off the park, I just want a bit of honesty, I want him to stop talking to "me" like im some clueless moron, when we play badly, I want him to say we played badly and know that he will learn from it.

We played United off the park and then the next game he changed 2 very vital players and we got smashed, twice.

But more than anything, I want Everton to be everything we can be.

Last season we didnt get what we deserved, we honestly deserved 4th, it could be said we threw it away with the shocking loan signing we made in January, but I personally think we still deserved 4th.

This season we have got what we deserved, the grand total of utterly nothing, hopefully its been a learning curve, personally ive seen no indication that Martinez is capable of learning from his mistakes, lets hope im wrong, lets hope we get a new Manager in the Summer, that Manager we had last season would be ideal.

My grandfathers friend who is a wigan season ticket holder come out with something bizarre last year:

I love martinez because he brought us the FA CUP, something i never thought id see at wigan, even though we went down he gave us some great memories etc etc but martinez having a good seasonc ould be a bad thing because he will not change anything. If you start to struggle, win lose or draw he will play the same players and same philosophy every game.

That was said when we were flying high, we cant win every game but when we get beat we are terrible, when we win we look world beaters at times.

As for the sticky grass comment above, im sure we soak the field before - half time - after the game no ?

Two very vital players.
Prepare the fatted calf!

I just wonder if he's as soft as this in the changing rooms. It would explain the kind of euphoric release the players had last year - and the shambles of this.

“Sometimes, as a midfielder, you get in positions, but today was sunny, the grass was sticky and you can miss a pass and that can affect the next two or three decisions,” explained Martinez “but the thing I love about Ross is that whatever happens it never affects the next moment when he wants the ball.

Sticky Grass...that goes straight into the Top 10 of complete BS from brown shoes.

Grasshoppers Zurich would have murdered us.

Something we know to be untrue already.

Why cant they just leave it at thanking Robert for the trophy he got for them and leave it at that?

Wigan with the FA Cup FFS! You'd think they'd just be grateful and keep their inane criticisms to themselves.

"He won the FA Cup for us - or first trophy ever - but he didn't get us into the CL booo hooo"

Do we?

Although it's near impossible to predict his 11, we do set up the same every single game.

It's only when the opposition is better in possession (Man Utd) does it look any different and we adjust our style out of necessity. If you don't/can't have the ball, you're forced to change.

I maintain;

5 things that wind me up;

1. Predictability. Martinez's philosophy of mastering a 'Plan A' is admirable. As a manager he believes regardless of circumstance, you persevere with your own philosophy and style. On questioning his lack of 'plan B' recently, Martinez spoke of mastering your own style and if you do that, you'll win more than you lose and be a successful football team. The problem with this is how predictable Everton have become. You'd be naive to thinking Martinez will alter his approach, even when in a relegation struggle with Wigan, he persevered with playing football "the right way"...

2. Balance. Or lack of, particularly in the final third. Too many players are given creative license. How many number tens do we want to play in the same eleven? Mirallas, Barkley, Naismith - interchanging every other minute, naturally central players drifting inward causing;

3. No Width. Is it a coincidence that both our full backs have under performed all season? There's no width ahead of them, with both Coleman and Baines now rarely having an easy option, an easy ball for a 1-2 to progress up the field.

4. Jarg 'tiki taka'. Pointless Possession. Passing without any purpose. No urgency on the ball. No intensity off it.

5. Integrity. His utter BS after every game, taking fans as mugs. He's become a parody of himself.

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein.

At the half way point in our season we find ourselves trying to assess the reasons behind our sustained poor performance. What i find most troubling is the reluctance of Roberto Martinez to adapt, repeating the same mistakes game after game. A stubborn loyalty to his philosophy leaves us exposed with teams knowing exactly what to expect from us. They press us high up the pitch. They wait for the inevitable mistake. They conserve energy while we dwell on the ball to attack in numbers when we stretch ourselves.

We've even had Sam bloody Allardyce mocking him;

Sam Allardyce attacks Everton boss Roberto Martinez's lack of flexibility

^ Which made it all the more annoying when he dumped us out the FA Cup...

Maybe they are mature enough to acknowledge the negative aspects of his management, as well as his positives, rather than acting like a teenage girl who has fallen in love with a boyband member and won't have anyone say anything bad about him.

Of course it's "inane" to criticise a manager who relegated your team

I guess if he relegated us, we'd just have to thank him for that 72 point haul in his first season and move on

Regardless that Allardyce's remarks say more about him...a disrespectful lantern-jawed nomark, than Roberto Martinez, we nevertheless played great at Upton Park in that cup game and with more luck would've won. To the point in hand however re flexibility, I think we met up with RM's reluctance to change smack in the gob ourselves without any need for prompting more than enough this season. This coming close season will however be pivotal on and off the field to not only how we recruit then strengthen weaknesses, but also how RM shapes up to progress us. Im hoping to see that he's learned harsh lessons from this season's alarming decline and will change his approach having got away with it. Not rose tinted glasses...just an appreciation of how we have been capable of playing.

Mature analogy there.

As evidenced by the slowly diminishing 'Out' total, people are still coming on and changing their vote to one for Martinez. why?, I mean w.t.f.
