When we were playing badly a certain ammount of concern is natural. In particular the concern was whether he could turn it around and get us playing well again.

He has done that, so it's only natural for there to be less concern about him as a manager. Getting a bad team playing football again is a really important skill to have and I'm pleased he seems to have it.

We could easily finish 8th this year. Which wouldn't redeem this crappy season anymore than it did the post lescott year when we struggled and then came back in the spring to finish 8th but I have a lot less worries going into next year now given the way we played yesterday.

So next year is still the big test for Martinez but he's done very well to bring this side back from the brink of being awful (even if he should never have let us get to that point in the first place).

I'm gutted by our league position after the money we laid out on improving this team from last season tbh.

I'm made up we won yesterday, but it doesn't mask the disappointment of a poor season for me.

Cut the media drivel, lose the stubbornness and keep on with winning football matches like we have been and we'll be boss again in no time.

all the money but the 4m on besic was used on players already in last years sqaud, turning rom and barry into perm signings. we didnt really add to the squad much

This! And they all got 1 year older which in the case of Barry, Distin, and Alcarez was a major factor. As the number of games increased, Barry looked shot in many games. He can only really perform one game a week.

yup. everyone sees we spent 30m+ so assumed we should have improved when we spent most of the money for a long term benefit (keeping Rom permanently) not improving the squad directly in the short term

Playing Alcaraz in Kiev though

Worst decision he's made since joining the club as manager

That being said, he's bounced back somewhat since then

As I've said earlier, I'll save any judgment on him until December
thats a fair assessment. still don't think stones was fit enough to play so if not alacaraz it wouldve had to have been someone like Browning or playing Barry/Besic there
