@davek People here had a legitimate case to be worried, now that we have recorded a couple of wins the table looks better, but we still need a couple of win IMO. You and i both know i think he should go in the summer but i would be willing to give him another season, now that it looks like we will stay up there is still the dissapointment that we have massively underachieved, i hope this season is a one off and Martinez takes us forward for the good of the club. It would feel like a hammer blow if Martinez messes up next season and undoes the hard work built up over many years from Moyes. I think ultimately thats my fear with Bobby, we dont need a overhaul - just a few tweaks to the current set up, moyes defence with bobbys attack type of approach.

Come on sweetie I said my issue is with fellow blues making me cringe, like you just done some more there.

I credit you with being better than kopites in your self loathing but this season is making me have doubts about if many of you are indeed any better than an average kopite.

come on duckie, i'm cringing here at you cringing at fellow blues for voicing their opinions.

it must make you feel good up there on your high horse looking down your nose at other blues while scoffing your disapproval at them and accusing them of kopiteism

your attitude is that of a snob

You want to be thanking me for standing against the RAWKisation of this once fine forum mate.

Just because you look a tit at wanting our manager jibbed off because he ruined YOUR weekend.

Ah you sweetie you.

My word

I'm glad I'm not busy this morning and keep track of how this will go

The defence is cause for concern. IMO: Howard, Distin, Alcarez all have to be shipped out. Baines is not the force he once was and needs to be phased out in favour of the less spectacular but more solid Garbutt...if the bouffanted beaut deigns to grace us with his signature, that is.

If we rid ourselves of that lot in bold and get a GK in worthy of the name, sign a CB with presence and quality on the ball, then this summer things will look a whole lot better. In the meantime, now things are settling down, let's have a closer look at Browning and Galloway and see if we can save some money to spend elsewhere.

I do realise people had a legitimate case to be worried, I said that. What I said overall was that this worry/concern was whipped up into a frenzy that had no right to be there...it all started lets not forget when we were 11th and 12th back in early December. It's been a concern blow up out of all proportion into a crisis and those responsible for it have done this club no good whatsoever. If destabilisation was their motive then congratulations: mission accomplished...it almost cause a complete meltdown in the organisation, but yeah, well done to those crusaders (they know who they are).

How can a handful of fans opinions almost cause a complete meltdown of the organisation.
You are nuts man.
Do you really believe what you post

I could put up with howard for another season if it means we spend on a decent winger and centre half. Alcaraz is the first name on my list to go, pienaar is also on that list due to injuries. I would like us to kick mirallas up the backside but not kick him out.

Alcaraz, Pienaar, Howard out.
A.Ayew, Schar and a RUFFIER in.

If only it was that easy.

Yep. I just posted this elsewhere...

There's a hell of a rebuilding job needed here. If I were Martinez I would not be entrusting my own tenure with a lot of the players who've misfired this season.

Howard (now a liability)
Distin (enough said)
Baines (very ropey now)
Alcarez (appalling overall)
Barry (doesn't do enough)
Hibbert (not used and limited)
Pienaar (never going to be an option again)
McGeady (*sigh* I wish it had worked out, but....)
Mirallas (chooses when he wants to turn up and play)
Kone (an utter disaster from start to, hopefully, finish)

If any of them left it wouldn't be a disaster; many of them leaving would be a relief.

Yep. I just posted this elsewhere...

I think if given a proper run of games with Lukaku and two supporting wingers Kone would be a good addition, which in turn takes me to the wingers situation, whilst i agree mcgeady isnt great he is fitter than pienaar (who has more quality) and also Mirallas is a tool at times but he is a good player, All i can ask for now is if bobby stays in charge he must bring in a defensive coach to try and improve our defensive line, just show signs of adapting to the infamous plan B, two wingers etc etc...

On the subject of style, it does really wind me up when certain types treat the mere suggestion that we play a little bit more direct as an act of barbarism

The most succesful Everton side of the modern era, mid to late 80's, played an aggressive and direct style of play. They didn't knock it sideways on the half way line for minutes on end while the opposition comfortably sat back. Granted, they didn't knock it long at every opportunity either

They were a tactically flexible side, made up of a motivated group of players who were on a similar wave length

Look at Andy Gray. He was a big Scotsman who, though he was better with the ball at his feet than some suggest, mostly used his size to dominate and score goals. Watch the Semi Final with Bayern Munich or take a look at the Nat Lofthouse style goal he scored in the 84 Cup Final

This idea that to bring the glory days back we need to play Tikki Takka is nothing short of nonsense

There is nothing wrong with us being a bit more direct. The football snobs need to stop being so stubborn about this

The mere suggestion that maybe Aaron Lennon should run down the wing and play a cross into Lukaku/Kone/Naismith does not all of a sudden make us 2008 era Stoke FFS

I dont think we need a defensive coach as much as the defenders being up to it consistently.

That defence is stale and needs shaking up. Retain Robles, Stones, Jagielka and Coleman; bring in another GK, a dominant CB, and slot Garbutt in at LB. That'd solve a lot of problems we've been experiencing.

There's not enough character in that defence. It's way too brittle and needs sorting out root and branch. If we dont do that we'll fail next season. No question in my mind.

That at present is a defensive unit that should never have started out this season, never mind next.

We've scored goals at a top half of the table team rate; and conceded them at the rate of a bottom half team.

It's not fit for purpose.
