Dave

It's never a good day when you're looking at other teams results to guarantee premier league survival.

It's far from phenomenal

You're so entitled mate, acting like the team you support who finished 5th last season with a record PL points total *tmdavek* should be doing better than scraping survival in 14th come March.

There there *pats on head like a patronising git who hates it when other do it to Everton.*

I'm backing us to get 12th now, tbf.

Lets draw a line under all this in fighting and get behind Roberto next season. It's make or break for him, he should have all our best wishes though.

The only thing we need concern ourselves with now is what sort of transfer budget Roberto gets.

We are a win away from safety. That's it.

I reckon he needs - on top of cash for players sold - another £20M to revamp this overhyped squad.

A win away from safety. Awesome. I was a bit down about the Europa in all but I'm chirping like a bird now.

We were 5th last year and a few teams below us had better squads.
I am saying we are capable of getting in the top 4 with these players but we are looking like it could be the bottom 4 this year.
My point is we have the squad to do much much better
Last year was last year.

We had a solid defence with Distin, Barry and Pienaar all playing prominent roles.

Those 3 are finished. We also had Deulofeu.

This year Stephen Naismith has been one of our better players. We are a much weaker squad now.

Although of course we are still underperforming so if that's all your point was then ok I accept that and obviously agree.

Leicester, Burnley and Villa losing. WBA already lost. S'land to play against the Irons shortly.
If it stays like it it then it's down to us. A win tomorrow and we'd be 9 points clear of the drop-zone with eight games to go.

If that happens then this poll becomes even more academic than it currently is, because a win would all but guarantee us Premiership footie next season and Martinez won't be shown the door. We shouldn't be where we are, he's at fault for that, but we all know he'll be given every chance next season to show us if he can turn it round.
I agree we won't be close to relegation but that's still not good enough.

For me he has to the end of the season to earn getting the transfer window.

We held those stars last season, now we have to get over this bump in the road and refocus for next season.

It'll be a big season for all concerned. Manager, players, owners.

We all want the same, we all want the boss togger from last season and the boss results, knowing that we can go to any ground and put up fight.

The frustration comes from seeing awful football but the same players keeping there place and to top it off those interviews are just a kick in the balls which nobody wants to hear.

My view on Martinez is my view, during the 90 minutes of games he gets my support, all managers do. And I'll be doing my best to swerve this thread until the season is over

Let's have it right though: they've been shocking. Donkeys many of them. They'll be taken to the knackers yard this summer though, and rightly so.
A strong manager would not let them get away with it.
A weak manager would close his eyes and leave everything the same hoping it might come right.
Which one is martinez

...ok, I've been really critical of the inept coaching set up of the team this week. I am very concerned about the apparent lack of defensive organisation, a tendency to be tactically too clever and an almost stubborn resistance to listen to common sense. Saying all of that, I would stick with him.

Most top managers are on the brink at one stage, they go backwards before they go forward. RM might not be a top manager, the indication is that he isn't but change is also a risk so I still vote to keep him. It's a long shot but.....
