The discussion about our style of play is interesting in that we do usually play nicer football under Martinez ,but what the point of domination possession and controlling the game , when , if the opposition get the ball they are allowed to cause us serious problems because we fail to pressure the player on the ball and defend to deep. These to problems have been evident since the first game this year and were brutally exposed on Thursday. Thank god for Lennon last week ,his work rate and pressing was infectious, he will be a very important player for us in our last few games.

When we defend, we'll just assign a player to follow the ball player without doing anything to try to win the ball back most of the time, and this lead to unusual amount of shots we concede and obscene amount of crosses we allowed.

I've just enough confidence in him, and even more in the fact that there are far worse teams in the division, to let him ride it out to the end of the season. It's hard to have any confidence in him being able to do anything over the summer to improve things. There are just no excuses left for him and it's showing in what he's saying to the press. He's made an absolute mess of this of season. It really is like he has no idea how to organise the defence. He's got til the end of this season to show that he should be here next season. If we play like this to start next season, he'll need to be sacked by December or he will take us down. Right now I'm thinking that thanking him and looking for someone else this summer and letting them have whatever money there is to spend might be the better option.
