Don´t be childish, you are acting as if you aren´t aware that for many many fans football is definitely more than about winning. style matters....a lot...and in some of the biggest clubs it´s a priority.

Barça and Madrid are two of the biggest, if not the biggest clubs in football and they definitely have the attitude that football is about more than winning. That there is a certain way to go about it.

I can understand if other people disagree with this, but it´s a bit silly acting as if it´s complete nonsense when if you have any knowledge of the game itself rather than just your own clubs results week in week out, you will know it is an extremely common view held by many players/managers/journalists/fans throughout the history of the game.

I can tell you know your football, so I think you are just being facetious on this to back up your criticism of our current boss.

Well seeing as you mentioned Real Madrid and Barcelona....

Real Madrid sack managers if the weather changes, more than likely to sack someone if they don't deliver, a trophy will give the manager a bit more breathing space if they're playing unattractive. If they play attractive and don't deliver, the same bullet will be finding it's way.

Barcelona, well as you're probably aware for the first couple of months there was upheaval at the club because enrique has come in and binned the possession based football and gone direct, front to back quick. This style what the fans and players didn't agree with was well publicised, but they now like because results are coming thick and fast.

Now you maybe happy walking away from goodison park with your head held high because we got beat 3 0, but by god did we play some attractive football. Me, I'd rather walk away from a sh!t 1 0 victory, because it's 3 points that matter not what those blurts in the media think about our style of football.

Results come first my friend, everything else comes second. Have a look at dortmund this year, style binned off because it wasn't working, back to basics and the results are flying in.

You can also ask some chelsea fans if they think that when Mourinho goes to city, kills the game dead and walks away with 3 points if they'd rather play attractive and come away with nothing.

It's a results based business, nothing else

Winning with style is a 'nice to have', but winning is the goal.

Not that our current brand of football has much style anyway, it's been largely dull as dishwater this season.

its been muck this season. agreed.

I would say this comes down to different peoples personal taste....I would probably put style higher up the priority list than you as an example. Guardiola would put it higher up than Mourinho.

My problem here is the acting as if the idea of football being more than just about winning was some alien concept and laughable to suggest, and that when our manager mentions it , that it is the ravings of a loony.

hehe I was waiting for the dreaded phrase mentioning "business"

Modern football......bleh

we do, and there aren´t.

doesn´t change a thing I have said

I get it, you are going to keep supporting the manager and the people who employed him no matter how strong the head winds are in the hope that it will turn one day. Nothing wrong with that in my book but I think in my opinion to support that position is both loyal and deluded given the performance and issues on and off the pitch this season.

Mouriniho like him or not is the best manager in the world imo.

I have to defend Moyes here. People seem to be changing history with this guy. Whilst his football could be dire at times, let's not forget he operated most of the time with a hand tied behind his back. He had us top 4-8 in all but 1 or 2 seasons. And at times with the right players had us playing great football. He was no tony pullis ffs.

have to come back to this, as again this is key.

some fans see it like this. others think a bit more of the sport.

for me you are basically concentrating on stats, like the scoreboard at the end of the game and the number of points achieved.

I take much more joy from seeing a goal like Ross against Newcastle and I will remember it a long time. I have already forgotten hundreds of dull and dreadfull wins in my time watching Everton.

you also mention blerts in the media and what they think of our style...i dont care what they think. what I think matters more. this goes against your comments on Barça also, because what you mention, is what is written in the media and is not the same as what many of your normal matchgoing fans would think or just the general fan.

You know what I take more enjoyment from....

Seeing my team lift the league

It was boss

I don´t like Mourinho at all. I respect him, but I don´t like him. The reason for that is because I love football, and I think it is a fantastic sport that has so much to offer. Mourinho couldn´t give a damn about football, he cares about himself and about winning.

He is an amazing and impressive winner, but I don´t like him one bit. Benitez neither, as I think they have the same attitude to football.

But Mate it is business one cannot get away from that. The players are just like the ground staff, employees albeit paid more. Just like any other business doing well depends on results, like a car maker selling cars, more sold the better that is a result.

You may decry it as modern football but 'fraid this the name of the game. So much depends on getting it right, Sponsorship, Merchandise sales, Increasing your fan base home and abroad, there is no getting away from it. If the club (business) is not doing well many of the money spinning factors deteriorate Vicious circle but that is it, for me no room for sentimentality.

your just shifting around the argument chris.

football is about more than winning. this is a common belief whether you like it or not, and I think it´s silly to suggest it is either laughable or flat out wrong.

It's not

It's about winning plain and simple

If it wasn't we wouldn't have knock out cup competitions and points for winning
