Too early to make a concrete judgement.

Based on today though the one thing that stood out for me was that in the 4 minutes of injury time we monopolised possession and should have scored another. I am programmed to start panicing and expecting the worst when holding a slender lead in a winnable match. Norwich last season springs to mind, home and away. I don't think we are defending much more calamitous as last season. we let in some dreadful goals at this point last year too.

Long way to go yet but he has started well.

No, for numerous reasons, i'll list a few:
1. I'm still concerned that he got a team relegated last season. Having kept them up for ages paying them 35p a month. Also won the FA Cup (more than Moyes in 11 years here).

2. He signed Kone. No excuse for that, like, but he did sign McCarthy Barry and Lukaku.

3. Where the hell are our defenders for corners? Certainly noone on the posts! Not all clubs do it, and considering there was much complaint yesterday about them winning all the headers I'd say it makes more sense to have bodies in the box.

4. Our defenders are a shambles, the same defense that's been so solid for years. Not exactly a shambles but it does look ropey at times

5. No place for Hibbert, not even on the bench. Been out for ages and really doesn't fit into Martinez's style. Plus with the emergence of John Stones I think that's fair enough, despite the fact I rate him.

6. He doesn't seem passionate (angry) enough, I just cannot picture him giving anyone a bollocking at half time or after a poor performance. I appreciate players need praise, but they also need to realise their mistakes. No idea what he's like behind closed doors, but I reckon he gave them a bollocking half time vs West Ham

7. He's still playing 4-5-1; I wanna see 2 strikers up front! Why? Hardly anyone plays this any more as the game's changed, but more to the point who would he play? You've already said signing Kone was a mistake and Jelavic has scored once in 30 games or something.

8. Where is Vellios?! I know he got a knock on international duty but apart from that he's been fit all season (to my knowledge). Yeah but he's crap

9. We're drawing with teams that we "should" be beating, the likes of West Brom and Norwich! Happens to all teams. City lost to Cardiff, United lost to West Brom, Liverpool lost at home to Southampton

10. I wanted Duncan Ferguson. I don't care what anyone else says or thinks, I, HAYEE, wanted Duncan Ferguson as our manager and noone will ever live up to that hope/expectation! Is this a wind up?

Just some thoughts, there.

Beckford bloomed when partnered with Saha. Some strikers score more when in a partnership. A Lukaku/Jela partnership might be interesting.

Vellios is crap

He did well for us when coming on as sub. Not too great when starting games. Apparently he's been average-at-best in training so that's why we're not seeing him.

Shane Duffy scored more than him for the reserves last year. I think he got something like 4 in 20 odd games at U21 level. He's GASH.

the best performance i saw him play for us he didn't score, he played out on the left wing and proved to be a very useful option...winning balls, spraying passes, physically beating players.

i thought that was a sign of him becoming first-team right there, or at least regular sub...seems to have been but a blow of the wind....ah well.

Aye, I dunno which one you mean but he's looked promising when he's come on IMO. Just think his touch is dodgy and apparently his lifestyle is even dodgier.

No, for numerous reasons, i'll list a few:
1. I'm still concerned that he got a team relegated last season.

Silly point, given we are 6th, and have beaten Chelsea already. Joe Royle relegated Oldham, then kept us up, won us a trophy and guided us to 6th. Plenty of great managers have a relegation on their CV, it doesn't define them at all as long as they've learnt from it.

2. He signed Kone.

Silly, writing off a player so early.

3. Where the hell are our defenders for corners? Certainly noone on the posts!

How many goals have we conceded from corners this season?

4. Our defenders are a shambles, the same defense that's been so solid for years.

They're not really a 'shambles'; although Jags and Distin aren't great on the ball. We need to move on from central defenders hoofing it... unfortunately this means getting central defenders who are comfortable on the ball.

5. No place for Hibbert, not even on the bench.

Hibbert is 32 years old. Seamus Coleman is the better fullback. Rather have more attackers on the bench.

6. He doesn't seem passionate (angry) enough, I just cannot picture him giving anyone a bollocking at half time or after a poor performance. I appreciate players need praise, but they also need to realise their mistakes.

Everton FC boss Roberto Martinez not afraid to let his players know when they are underachieving
24 Sep 2013 07:23
Spainard's half-time team talk made players change their ways at Upton Park

7. He's still playing 4-5-1; I wanna see 2 strikers up front!

The team looks balanced, and we are playing 4-4-1-1, with Mirallas supporting Lukaku.

8. Where is Vellios?! I know he got a knock on international duty but apart from that he's been fit all season (to my knowledge)

He's injured, they said this on Radio Merseyside yesterday during the post-match phone in.

9. We're drawing with teams that we "should" be beating, the likes of West Brom and Norwich!

Last season we got beat by Norwich. We also only just scraped past WBA last season. Also we have beaten Chelsea this season, who we got beat by last season, and we beat Newcastle this season, who we drew with last season. Overall, we have more points this season from the same fixtures from last season. We have improved.

10. I wanted Duncan Ferguson. I don't care what anyone else says or thinks, I, HAYEE, wanted Duncan Ferguson as our manager and noone will ever live up to that hope/expectation!

You may get your wish eventually, but hopefully not for a long while to come.

Joe Royle was completely different. Firstly, he knows what Everton stand for, he knows/knew all about the fans, the stadium, the way we play; and that was back when football was completely different, we were the dogs of war, we fought for everything, there wasn't the money available that there is these days! Blackburn won the league that season remember?

Silly, writing off a player so early.
Lazy, looks disinterested, misses sitters - we should have kept Victor

I haven't checked, but that doesn't make it right to leave an unguarded back post, our defense was a shambles yesterday

did you watch the game? noone knew what they were doing, at one point i watched gareth barry play left back while Leighton Baines went for a wander (without the ball!!) I saw distin and jags play a few very dodgy back passes, i saw us lose the ball over the bullens road because our defenders didn't have a clue. You can't argue or defend that! Too many players had an "off" game

Hibbert is 32 years old. Seamus Coleman is the better fullback. Rather have more attackers on the bench.
Hibbert is a better defender, he reads the game better. I'm not knocking Seamus at all, i just feel safer with Hibbo at right back. He is solid and dependable and will soldier on regardless; without any qualms or hesitation.

Well, whatever he said yesterday was not very effective; we were appalling, i've not seen us play that bad in a long time! We should have had a ruck of goals, and so should Hull if their strikers had have hit the target.

The team looks balanced, and we are playing 4-4-1-1, with Mirallas supporting Lukaku.
Lukaku was very very quiet yesterday, i think he'd benefit from a strike partner, stick Naismith/Mirallas up front with him if you don't rate Jelavic, I certainly wouldn't play Kone

I acknowledged that when i said "I know he got a knock on international duty"

That makes it acceptable? Yes Chelsea did the double over us last season, but the 2 seasons before that we beat them at Goodison, not a valid point. And if you wanna go there, we lost away to City, which we had only done once previously in about 9 games, home and away! I wouldn't say we've improved, we may have more points, but we do not look as solid as we have done

You may get your wish eventually, but hopefully not for a long while to come.
For me, noone will ever stand as high in my esteem. I doubt many others will agree, but noone and nothing will change my mind

I disagree with nearly everything you say and your reasons for each point are pretty flimsy
