Been a great window in my opinion, Brands has done well but very much empowered by Carlo. Thats a good thing it would be remiss of Brands not to capitilise on Carlos profile. One enables the other as it should be.

Bit of truth i think in papering over the cracks of the bad recruitment last year, three central midfielders and an attacking midfielder and a striker last year, two central midfielders and an attaching midfielder this year, shouldnt be the case and not a good use of resources, while the striker from last year has been sent to Coventry - well Paris. That said all are still here so are moving targets - they could improve. Im bewildered by the Kean deal makes no sense, not good for us not got for him and that squad line is now weaker. I would suggest the lad wanted a better shot at mins with the Euros and we granted his wish, whether that is good people management or squad management is debatable. I hope our fans dont go full Lookman on him, it would be short sighted.

I think Godfrey, Niels and i know he came in January but Branthwaite are top top signings and give full credit to him and his scouting team, though i suspect Carlo likes Godfrey to, MOM against us at Carrow Road last year. But fair play and augers well with the academy ban being lifted. hopefully the lad who came from Sweden turns into a player to.

I like that he was a bit flexible this window, with age profile, the average age has come down hugely in recent seasons and we needed a bit of experience, its good that he recognised that, also think we got players in the right areas. They all came in at a reasonable time as well and we didnt have our usual early season hangover or adjustment.

Bit disappointed on outs i was hoping for more out or rather frankly a bit more money in. I think we saved approx 20 odd million on the wage bill, mostly through natural wastage as opposed to brokering deals, its an area he needs to improve. To be fair the championship window is still open, but we have turned 100's of millions of fees on players into millions. Hopefully that was the final year of the overhang. We have a robust business without it.

Overall though away from business i'm really happy from a footballing point of view, to be honest i was satisfied after Jamo, The Duke and Allan, well done to him and Carlo they seem a really excellent combo.

Same 5 have us top of the table this season
Good manager ,good midfield made all the difference
No, the attackers have us top of the table. The defence has conceded 5 goals in our last 3 league games. I'm not complaining, i'm loving the way we're playing, just pointing out that your simplistic argument doesn't hold a lot of water.

3 were blammos, one was scored by Pickford, and the other was, granted, poor.
You could say the same about half the goals we conceded last year. A couple of the 'blammos' were just poor defending - West Brom's first for sure, Brighton's second to an extent - which allowed the shot. We were got at too easily by Brighton in general, a second goal was coming for a long time. Again, i'm not trying to be negative, just pointing out the facts. We've conceded the same amount as we did in our first 4 games last year, we've got double the points because we've scored more.

Those 5 goals would've turned into 10 at the start of last season.
That's the difference. No hesitency, no heads dropping, no giving up, just got on with it and got the wins.
Those blammos were almost enjoyable to watch.

Its the academy where Brands will have to excel
We need to be bringing in one first team squad member from the academy every year and selling 2or 3 for decent money to cover costs
I am surprised he has not done a wholesale change of academy coaches

that's true - and we have to really change this automatic recruitment of ex-players unless they're actually good! Franny Jeffers ahem

I think there will be a few more players leaving in the next eleven days, making it an excellent transfer window for Carlo and Marcus, and they have only been together less than a year, minus the lockdown.

I think there is so financial thinking in the Kean deal too. I think he still has a long-term future at the club but given the form of DCL and Richarlison it was clear this was going to be limited. Had we moved on Tosun then I suspect we might have kept. However, with Tosun being a large cost to the club it makes sense to loan Kean out and use Tosun as back up for the season.

In an ideal world:

Kean gets valuable minutes and comes back better
Tosun gets fit, helps out when needed, puts himself in the shop window and we flog next season.

Marcel has a plan for it all. The architect is taking us back to the top.

I'm still very annoyed we have sent Kean out on loan and not brought anyone in.

If we don't get King in then we may get in trouble when injuries come.

I dont want to see Tosun on the pitch at all.

It's the only thing I'm not happy with from him this summer.
