Man U don’t do they?

No they don't and since the possibly greatest manager retired - and one whose time at the club spanned the pre DoF era how have they done exactly, a club who since 1991 had not finished outside the top 3 (and even in 1991 they won the Cup winners cup) and in those 22 years subsequently had won the league 13 times, finished runner up 6 times, and third 3 times, won the CL twice, 4 FA Cups, 4 Leauge Cups (both comps they played reserve sides for half the games in)

Since then without the aforesaid best manager the games seen, and without a DOF model in place they have finished, 7th, 4th, 5th, 6th and could quite easily finish 4th or lower again this season.

Meanwhile in those 4 years, the leagues been won every season by a team with a DoF in place...

Dave you may dislike him because he sacked Bobby but he’s a self made Billionaire so he’s no fool
And before you say he was given his money Usmanov doesn’t give money to fools either.
Your personal dislike of Moshiri and all things Everton clouds your judgement on every issue

Playing Davek’s advocate here, but plenty of men have foolishly assumed their competence in one area translated perfectly to new areas

Good post as always Ste but I think the issue we have ( well I certainly do ) is that from the top down they are all as clueless as each other. So us having a DoF just means there's someone else to pin the blame on.

I found it really disturbing that when Unsworth was given the caretaker role he said that Walsh first had a chat with all the players and then he waited for him to leave so he could then talk to the players himself privately. That told me that Walsh has quite an influence and even more disturbing is if that really is the case, it's gross negligence on his part that we still have a really unbalanced squad which is now his 4th transfer window I think.

I think if we had leadership from the top driving us forward along with a progressive coach then a DoF woukd work perfectly. The reality is we are stuck with 2 gibbering clueless fools, a CEO who plucks numbers from thin air and the less I say about our manager the better.

And Moshiri knows this , hence his desire for a successful DOF
You don’t buy a private jet if you haven’t got a qualified pilot
As of now Moshiri hasn’t got a pilot but if there’s any truth in the Brands rumour he’s obviously looking for one

The point doesn't stand either, as Gill operated doing many functions of a DOF, and SAF also said losing him the same summer as he went badly impacted United.

Everyone outside ajax could see Klaassen was bad..

Don't say that too loud mate, a huge number of people on here who mustn't have seen him play were thrilled to have him....anyone who had seen him knew he wasn't a good match.

As far as I can see the wrong question is being asked, judging by the reports. So the survey should read do you want Brands to work alongside Walsh.

The jury was out for me on Walsh as I didn't know how much influence he had with Koeman but then we've had the manager replacement fiasco and the signing of Walcott and Tosun. So for that he has to go and its pointless bringing in someone to work alongside Walsh, it will just muddy the already murky waters further. Sack Walsh after January window. Establish how you want to achieve success and how you want to play. Recruit the best DOF who shares your views and let him bring in the best manager to fit that.

You have someone well regarded in Scouting and someone well regarded as a DOF.

Just put the DOF on top of the scouting bloke. Why sack him?

You’re right Dave
The last 2 two PL winners had one and the probable winners of this one have one but we don’t need one.
Barca ,Real ,Bayern ,PSG all have one.
We need one but it has to a proper one who knows the job and is given free rein to do it.
We should have broke the bank for Monchi
Agree with you on the CEO for the corporate and financial side of things.
It’s big buisness now not someone’s train set

CEO
1 Commercial Director + 1 Director of football
1 Team coach + 1 Head of Senior Recruitment + 1 Head of Junior Recruitment
1 Reserve team coach + Various youth coaches

That's what we should have...

All good points mate, for me any post which sees one of those replaced with a competent person is an improvement now though, change the dof now, manager right after then gut the boardroom in the summer or sooner.

Walsh speaking to the team, wow that must have motivated them, did he get them to climb some ropes in the Finch farm gym, and make those who forgot their kit do it in there undies and vests?

Well he regards himself as a good scout. I have seen little evidence of it so far. He such seems like one of those characters who's a bit of a chancer and happy to let people know that Mahrez, Vardy etc were all down to him. I have to say that i doubt it. Putting that to one side if you read some of @Timak posts you'll see that the technical/analysis system and team that Moyes put in place has been scrapped and we've gone backwards in the way that we scout and analyse players. Walsh has been part of that and doesn't seem to have made an attempt to get back on track with Moyes's approach. Finally if we are going to appoint a proper DOF shouldn't he have the say over who and how he wants to shape the scouting and recruitment side of things, including whether he wants Walsh? For all of the above my opinion is that he needs to go and go straight after this current transfer window ends.

Get Moyes back as DOF

Missed that at the time mate, have to say i completely agree with you. Just for pushing for the appointment of Allardyce the guy needs to go in my opinion. He is not up to the job and is definitely not a suitable DOF for Everton.
