Good ones: Pickford, Gana, Walcott, Rooney, Vlasic

Not so good: Klaassen, Sandro, Martina

Mixed / jury still out: Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Williams, Keane, Onyekuru, Tosun

Most of the not so good / mixed ones were pretty much the best players at their clubs and so the decisions to sign them were not irrational on the face of it. Martina was maybe the worst one as not a top player st Southampton but he was cheap and only ever seen as a reserve right back option. And Koeman must have had a big say in that one as he worked with him before and he’s from the Dutch Caribbean

It could be also that some need to bed in and will also start to look better as the team gels and we strengthen a couple more positions (in defence particularly) and Tosun (hopefully) starts firing....

How can Vlasic be seen as good, when the likes of Onyekuru, Tosun, Sigurdsson and Keane are in the "jury still out" sections, you also left out Lookman

The only signings we have made that w ecan call a success so far i would say are Pickford, Gana & Rooney at a push

In Koeman we had a manager who had won almost all of his managerial trophies in the Dutch league.
In Klassen we bought a player who had played exclusively in the Dutch league.
In Brands we could have a DOF who has held that position exclusively in the Dutch league.

Perhaps not every hattrick is good.
To think Monchi was within our grasp but we wouldn't pay his release clause.

The jury has just come back in on Schneiderlain. They’ve found him guilty of fraudulently impersonating a professional footballer and he’s been sentenced to 4 years at Stoke City.

As far as I can see the wrong question is being asked, judging by the reports. So the survey should read do you want Brands to work alongside Walsh.

The jury was out for me on Walsh as I didn't know how much influence he had with Koeman but then we've had the manager replacement fiasco and the signing of Walcott and Tosun. So for that he has to go and its pointless bringing in someone to work alongside Walsh, it will just muddy the already murky waters further. Sack Walsh after January window. Establish how you want to achieve success and how you want to play. Recruit the best DOF who shares your views and let him bring in the best manager to fit that.

Is that the Monshi who shortly after declared himself exhausted? Or was that the manager who worked under him? That would have just been our luck to have signed him then him drop a tqwelve month sick note on Moshiris desk!

I’m not convinced the model works

The old model is dead. The new working model may not yet have emerged, but you can’t go back to the old ways. We’re not far removed from Clough and Taylor bossing the transfer market simply because everyone else was inept. There’s less ineptness now, but one can’t simply be ”less inept” and succeed in the current PL.

Abramovic, Mansour, and Levy all have new takes on this and although they’ve been successful in different measures, none yet without spending briefcases full of the green stuff (is English money green? Oh well...)

Contrast that with Kroenke and Wenger, who’ve spun their wheels for about 15 years now. And United aren’t quite the same without their talisman.

The dominant personalities will always rule the top flight, whether player or manager, but if you can build a club that withstands both, you’ll find a dominant period of success. Money has been the rule recently, but the future will be different. Let’s hope Farhad has a keen and clear vision.

'kin ell. Just scrap the post and go back to a manager who controls coaching and recruitment.

We dont need a DoF, it's a spare arse part of a job. We need a strong, industry savvy CEO.

Get a real manager in and a CEO and punt Allardyce, Walsh and Elstone
You’re right Dave
The last 2 two PL winners had one and the probable winners of this one have one but we don’t need one.
Barca ,Real ,Bayern ,PSG all have one.
We need one but it has to a proper one who knows the job and is given free rein to do it.
We should have broke the bank for Monchi
Agree with you on the CEO for the corporate and financial side of things.
It’s big buisness now not someone’s train set
