Manchester United

This is basically the entire problem with United though. They think someone can roll up because they’re a ā€œwinnerā€ and United will win again. There’s a lot of work that has to come first, work United didn’t have to do for a long time once Sir Alex did it back in the day, and they can’t seem to realize that until they do it again they’re not going to just go out and win.
They shouldn't forget that Ferguson was close to be given the push by United before becoming their most successful manager.

I believe that a manager needs to come through a rocky patch or two at a club to prove they have the backing of the club and have the authority not the players. I thought Silva had done that here at least once and if we'd have stuck with him it would have been long term to our advantage - but then again, who is going to take that risk as an owner when a change in manager gives you the immediate boost your club needs?

Anyway, United in chaos does not upset me, there's enough Everton related malarky to do that!

And that they don’t see that if you take out the Fergie yrs they are back in the pack in terms of success. So this is the norm really over the life of the club….

I did some searching and this is more true than I thought, bang average history apart from 2 very good spells.

His interview after the leeds game is why he's out the door. Saying he wasnt staying beyond his contract and slagging off wilcox and those who pay his wages.
He knew what he was doing. He wanted out. And he got a nice pay off.
interesting, then other managers too could pull this off, bothering the administration with some pressers and get paid without even working thru their contracts

and why did he want out? he was doing alright, could build a nice reputation at PL, maybe he missed warm Portugal
