Manchester United

I did some searching and this is more true than I thought, bang average history apart from 2 very good spells.
To be fair, you could probably say that about most clubs. While Arsenal have won a good number of FA Cups, they haven't won the league in over 20 years. The RS went 30 years without a league title. Chelsea have only been good recently, as have City. We had spells in the 30s, 60s, and 80s, but not sustained success. I suppose that's part of the allure of the league - it's not like Spain or Germany where one or two teams dominate decade after decade.

His interview after the leeds game is why he's out the door. Saying he wasnt staying beyond his contract and slagging off wilcox and those who pay his wages.
He knew what he was doing. He wanted out. And he got a nice pay off.
Makes you wonder what would be justifiable grounds for dismissal. The dice seem loaded in favour of the managers at the moment.

Yeah you're right. I guess Man Utd make it worse by expectig to always be top even tho their squad is now no better than most of the league. And Alex Ferguson was a special case. He beat Real Madrid in a European final wirh Aberdeen ffs. That one always sticks in my mind more than the Man U trophies

Its good for all the rest of us that they are a mess behind the scenes, because if they got it all together, they take who and what they want every single window.

THE biggest in this country by a mile.

You'd think City would be a bigger draw now. It's 13 years since they won the league. 20 years since they won the CL. They seem to be losing money hand over fist, so can't just get the cheque book out. History suggests that when they do, they end up paying well over the odds in terms of wages, quite possibly "because" they're not the draw they used to be.

You're in chicken and egg territory though. To "get it all together" they need to attract the talent to win things, which they can't because they haven't been close to winning big things for a really long time. So they're stuck attracting less than stellar talent by virtue of the fact that they can pay them a lot, while regularly sacking managers who want those players, labouring the next manager with players they neither want nor can shift because their wages are so high.

They need some quality staff recruitment...and/or give a top manager the system he thrives in.

Course its easier said than done, hence it being good for us all.

They still take 90% of who they want. If they want Emery, they can get him.

I thought the coach vs manager distinction was the final straw...wouldn't surprise me the least if his compatriot Mou didn't fill him in on appropriate PR to facilitate a resolution. Worked like a charm

I've read links to Xavi & Lucho due to the Berrada link but I struggle to see either jumping into that hot seat considering how strangely the sporting side of things are managed. Both, in particular, know how vital this aspect is to success. Xavi, in particular, I have to believe he will be shrewd with his next job and ManYoo has too many red flags to roll the dice. Lucho, he'll want to ensure wherever he goes he can do things his way

That's why it makes perfect sense why so many ex ManYoo players are linked - only they can put up with much less navigate the convoluted organization of the club. Longer term, I think it has to be a domestic coach (like Howe, Glasner or Dyche) and actually commit to the coach's philosophy and plan...until the corporate overlords decide otherwise

Assuming that the huge amount they've invested in new players is at least part of some long-term tactical plan, it would seem madness to recruit someone like Xavi who will always be wedded to the Barcelona 4-3-3.

True true, madness - but look at the list of coaches that have already come through

The manager/coach thing might have been just added waffle. The fella does love to talk. As soon as he said he would not stay beyond his contract and wont resign he basically told them sack me and pay me off. Pointless keeping him another another year and a bit.
Quite an interesting character tbh. Absolutely nothing was his fault. Everyone else never got him.
If Sean Dyche was Portugese.
