I and many other fair minded football fans happen to agree with him, ffs even liverpudlians do.
So if you dont like it you know where the door is

In fairness @Manc does seem decent enough - always makes reasonable points.

Just can't see how anyone can deny (and i'm talking more about our own fans here than City's) that the decision (or lack of) did not completely change the game. They don't score there, I think we had the confidence to see it out - even if we were riding our luck.

Positive's from that for me,Joel again, not to blame for anything with the goals,Mori superb,Barkley for an hour looked back to his best, and then errrrr I'm strugglinglol

Joel was fantastic in that he didn't stay on his line all night, he commanded his defence at set-pieces (they really didn't look a threat from them...) and he made some fine saves. It's also telling how the entire team were confident in giving him the ball - whereas they only ever pas sot Howard if it's the only option, and usually at the very last second. Dreadful management from Martinez not to play him in the league.

I've caught up with all the pges in this thread, and would offer the following.

1. Defending. Managers at EVERY level (and I've managed at Sunday League level) advise defenders to get tighter to attackers as the opposing team get close to the penalty area. We have seen time and time again this season Everton defenders being too distant from opponents, and so shots rain in, with the inevitable likelihood that a half block results in a deflection going in past a GK who otherwise has the shot covered. Also, the golden rule for wide defenders is to NOT let the opposition wide players get crossed into the box. We fail consistently on that point...

2. Officiating. Having also refereed at Sunday League level for a number of years, what has to be understood is that such incidents as their second goal is a split-second decision. On a flat surface like a football pitch it is impossible for a referee at any kind of reasonable distance away from the incident to say for sure the ball had gone fully over the touchline. Don't get me wrong, I hate Atkinson as much as any other Everton supporter, but you cannot lay the blame at his door in this particular instance. As for the assistant referee (lineman to us oldies), if you look at a still frame, you will see he was not in line with the touchline, but several yards from it. Also, the width of the posts, even if he was bang on the touchline, would militate against him having a 100% clear view. Sad to say, despite all the spleen vented in previous posts, the officials were on a hiding -to-nothing on this one.

3. Management of the team. Not good enough. Evidenced over the whole of this season. Notwithstanding the odd incident, too many things gave gone against the team for it to be bad luck, bad decisions, etc.. The Manager sets the tone, style, call it what you will. The Manager carries the can when it does not go right consistently. Unfortunately, time for Roberto to pick up the can and head for the door...

To be honest they looked like where going to score, bad decision or not I think they would have got the goals.

We looked absolutely drained.

Can't agree on that decision mate. Atkinson was up with the play. You could see it straight away, at full speed when it happened, watching on a crappy stream, that it had gone out. He was 18 yards away. It was a terrible decision that swung the game.

And all due respect, sunday league and a semi-final between two sides in the suposed best league in the world. As with the Chelsea game, and even when City should have got the penalty, it's safe to say the officiating (bar Oliver, who is a great ref, and Clattenburg unless he's onto his ego-trip he has every few games) isn't up to scratch.

Exactly, it happens. Get over it.

We lost because we were not the best team, mainly because they are better players.

Bolton fans still cry about the ball over the line thing in 97, that sent them down apparently.
Do they?? Saddos indeed. Bolton had all season to rectify that injustice.. It's not like it happened in their final game against Chelsea

I think they may well have done, but I don't think our heads would have dropped. That decision was a gut-wrencher for fans and players. City could smell the blood then and, as expected, had the quality in De Bruyne and Ageuro to finish the job.

they would have won without the help with the 2nd goal, in my opinion. We were run ragged and hanging on - maybe we'd have made it to extra time. But the better team won on the night. I can only remember Del's shot in the second half.

City are a bigger club! Do you think it was worth us even turning up?

Of course the goal changed the game. It brought City even on aggregate.

It encouraged them and discouraged us.

The way Everton just concede the centre of midfield every week is embarrassing. Barry recycles the ball well enough, but he has no presence whatsoever, and Cleverley is pretty much a nothing player. McCarthy will at least put himself about a bit, but his range of passing is atrocious.

Mori did well and should keep his place. It baffles me how none of the senior pros think to tell Stones that playing your mates into trouble because you think you're too good to clear it is a snide's trick, and won't wash in the sort of team you think you should be playing for.

I absolutely cannot wait to see the back of this manager. He is awful.
