Carlisle Sunday lads could break the season if Martinez chops and changes play a strong side and show some response from tonight and take it into the rest of the season because let's face it the FA cup is the only something we've to really look forward to.

I have loved Everton for 10 years, an entire decade, for being only 23 thats almost half my life. For that decade I have never been so disappointed, this was our one real chance to prove we were something, to beat man city at home and wipe the floor with the kopite scum in god damn Wembley. Absolutely heart broken, not even putting the blame on RM, no one showed up to play past the typical first 20 minutes. Pathetic display all around, no one deserved to even be an evertonian today. These are the days I lose hope and fear that ill never get to cherish any memories and tell my kids of the glories before.

Dont worry mate, you will have much more dissapointments in the future. We have all been there.

Actually I was just thinking could we have a That's doing any worse? Even Mike Walker would get results with this squad.

It is heartbreaking but we'll be fine.
Easy to forget but we were brilliant first leg and we're capable of that. But how many fans would have expected such poor stuff from Rom and Stones in last few games. Young side. There'll be a lot more tears before they grow up.
But when they grow up they won't be at GP??

Can't listen to Martinez any more. Spouts utter tripe.
Remember the equation though Experience > Football Ability.

Nonsense.

The people still defending that absolute helmet of a manager are doing my head in. Apart from the occasional good day, we've been constantly abysmal since the start of LAST season...a year and a half....and its getting worse (and the last 2-3 months of the season before actually). Even if we had got the right call on that ball tonight, we'd still be out of the League cup right now. No question. The players had absolutely NO fight left. They weren't even arsed to protest that decision. Even when we needed one goal to go to Wembley after that, we showed no hunger. It went dead on us from the moment of his ridiculous double substitution. City were weeing themselves when we broke with pace an Mr. Genius manager subs the pace off. City must have been laughing their arses off. Martinez protests that it's not his aim to stop conceeding goals....its his aim to win matches. I couldn't believe he said that. It's not just tonight.....it's almost every game! I never wanted him to get the job. He's an absolute disaster!!

Like you optimism but if you dissect the game more ,we weren't at the races

I can't agree. City are simply a superior side with superior resources (money, and let's face it, that's all it's about now, a bazaar more than a sport). All things considered we played with 100% passion, and if we were outclassed technically i think that's just down to money. I will never criticise players who give 100%. We matched City, the best team in the Premiership, over two legs, bar a hair's breadth that could have gone in our favour on another day. No fire power upfront, but Rom is burned out, that's not his fault. Naismith should NEVER have been sold, and that's the only finger i'm pointing at Roberto; but then a lot of the fans on here didn't respect him anyway.

3 things cost us:

Lack of squad depth
Poor defending (3rd goal)
Poor tactics

Nothing we can do about squad depth until we can afford to do so.

Defending has been our achilles heel and will remain so under Martinez.

Tactically we are so far behind not only the top clubs but clubs with much less resource and poorer players - again down to Martinez.
