Hibbert played DiMaria better than anyone else has this season. In fact in the three games he's stood in for Coleman he's been one of our better players. He's not a 'modern' wingback type, but defensively he's not let us down.

Put your tin hat on, Steve.

The boys are going to be on your case after that post lol

Having just watched the highlights, and not seeing it live, we were really unlucky not to get a point there. Two worldys from their keeper at the death and a penno save.

The bad luck this season is mental. Nothing at all has gone our way. (Except destroying every kopite!)

Its not much consolation but there won't be too long of this where we are struggling.

There's more than enough in this squad that with key players back we will start webbing teams all over the shop.

We were United's most difficult game so far and should have walked out with at least a point. Whereas we have played Arsenal, Chelsea, the gobshites and United.

Hibbert has done fine especially after the shocker against Swansea however he has been burned on the ourside multiple times and due to his lack of pace he just drops so far back he allows a free cross to be put in.

Not being funny here, but can someone explain where the money went? We effectively swapped Fellaini for Lukaku, pretty much a wash. McCarthy was 13mil......so what happened to the other money from the huge Sky increase? Not having a go at the board or anything, but it was pretty clear a few more players were needed. Theres no way that money has been spent already.

I mean, we needed a AM and a LW in the summer, could have just got Tadic and covered those bases with one player[/QUO don't make excuses for asking a valid question like that , it's gone were all the other money has gone over the last 15 years ! Oh and by the way the 13m for Macarthy can also be accounted for by the sales of Jela n Anachibi

De Gea saved that game for them, otherwise who knows what would have happened. Think of all the injuries we have now, and to players that make the squad play so differently, that today's performance wasn't all that bad given the circumstances. Didn't look scared off at OT like in years past, but when you're playing players like McGeady you can't expect him to beat a team like United by himself. Once we get Mirallas and Barkley back the offense will come. The defending however was a bit of a problem again, hopefully Stones isn't gone too long. Howard made a mistake in not just sending that ball for the second goal out of play, but that is a goal that can still be avoided with better defending and one step forward from Stones (though that wasn't his fault). All in all, things will improve, but they have to do so quickly.

A few observations:

1) The amount of blame coming Howard's way for Falcao's goal was a bit surprising to me. Yeah, hoof it out, but our defense had plenty of time and ability to contain the subsequent attack. They didn't and Howard gets slated. That didn't make a lot of sense to me, especially with the benefit of hindsight. No one said a squeak about Stones leaving him onside. Howard's been poor this season but I didn't think that goal was all on him.

2) Lukaku. He was taking massive amounts of "abuse" on Twitter during the match. Look, I get it, he's not back up to speed yet and not anywhere close to where he was last year. But some of the tweets were like "I can't believe we wasted money on this guy, etc.., etc..." These were the same people who were happy as heck that he came here on a permanent. Yeah, he has to work on his first touch as well as other issues but to put all the blame on him is ludicrous. No Barkley, no Mirallas, etc... easy to focus on him. It'll come but geez, Evertonians have absolutely NO patience with players.

3) Naismith. Well taken goal.

4) Baines. Just smash it son. Just smash it.

5) DeGea. Got your team three points when you probably should have had none.

6) Martinez. No Eto'o? Really? Osman instead?

7) Osman. Fair play to him, almost scored and did very well when he came in. I think he should only be used as a late game sub or starter in minor cup matches.

8) Hibbert. Solid match again from him. Surprising? Not sure.

9) Pienaar. Wasn't ready for this match so not surprisingly, took a lot of slating from the "supporters."

10) McGeady. Not a good day.

11) Besic. Good day. Getting better.

12) NO Barkley, Mirallas, McCarthy, Kone, now Stones? Good times huh?

Also a big burden as other players including mid fielders back him up as he is a liability at his age! Been a great servant , but if Browning can play for the last ten minutes why not start him??? as he has speed and height!

A few observations:

In bold below ref T Howard did he not see for at least for four minute SP was injured and eventually on the ground, and Oviedio was waiting to come on for an age or has he got bad eyesight!!!!!!!!! a kick into row Z and the goal would be avoided schoolboy error !!!!!!
and your surprised over the stick he has been given !!!!!!

That was such a good post until you mentioned kone.
