Coming across so bitter its painful. Lvg gone in summer? No improvement in their play? Welbeck better than rvp/falcao/rooney on back of hattrick vs bloody galtasary? Lol.

Go sleeep have a lie down. Our fixtures get easier. Imo they'll compete for title. I know we like to think our team is better than theres but its not and its nowhere near in terms of talent. They were missing carrick/herrera/rooney/jones all 4 would start too.

Anyway as lvg in their recent games theyve tended to fade so how much we can take out of it i dont know they seem gassed after 70mins.
Vault me.

RVP was absolute crap and has been for a long time now. Falcao has no pace and missed a load of chances and Rooney has been in decline for a while.

There was no improvement because everything was slow slow slow - get the ball to Di Maria to see if he does something.

You can't start Blind Carrick and Herrara or Mata and Rooney if you want to play with RVP and Falcao.

The might have had injuries but our injuries had far more effect.

They also didn't fade after 70 mins. We where on top the whole of the 2nd half. The trouble was that we started the 1st half with no intensity and tried to do what we did at Liverpool however unfortunately McGeady and Pienaar kept losing the ball and there was no outlet. Same problem at the Pit actually after Mirallas' injury.

Even saying that I thought both teams where poor in the first half apart from Di Maria - which I said at half time if you want to check.

However that said - They won't challenge City or Chelsea but we saw last season how much difference one world class player makes so I wouldn't rule out top 4 but I think Arsenal and Spurs look the much better teams.

Mirallas isn't a crosser in the traditional sense but even if he was, Lukaku has yet to show he is much good in the air.

He looked all at sea both yesterday and at The Pit last week when he did manage to get on the end of some high crosses.
He scored a couple of cracking headers last season but I agree recently he just doesn't look like he "wants" to win the ball. That cross that hit him plonk right on the head 6 yards out summed it up.

watch the replay tho', Roms getting shoved in his back as it comes over, screwing up his balance. He does jump too early tho'
Clear penno IMHO but would never be given against Manu at home in the last 15' of a game
A more experienced player would maybe expect the foul to happen and jump a little later, easing his weight back into the defender to counter the shoving

needs to get in the box if he wants to score. Last week stuck out on the right, yesterday 'inside left'. It's obvious he is low on confidence, but can't work out whether it is Martinez's tactics, the slow build-up play, or his lack of confidence that it stopping him get in good positions.
Every time we played the ball up long to him, the utd fans were crapping themselves. They had as little confidence in their defence as we have in our striker

It wasn't on match of the day and I'm afraid my stream wasn't that clear :-)

However if that's the case then ok fair enough. It's just frustrating he's like 6 foot 3 and 200 pounds with a brilliant leap (the goal against Liverpool).

He should be absolutely battering defenders but he doesn't seem to have that Street Fighter attitude like a Costa which is sort of reflects his personality too.

He needs to make Big Dunc his best friend and mentor. I have a lot of hope for Lukaku but there's a lot of work that needs done.

Also a big burden as other players including mid fielders back him up as he is a liability at his age! Been a great servant , but if Browning can play for the last ten minutes why not start him??? as he has speed and height!
Because we where chasing the game so we needed a fullback that could get forward and not as much one that could defend.

I have no problem with the Hibbert call. We should have found a replacement in the summer but now we have him as cover it makes sense to use him.

You also have to be careful with Browning's development.

1) The amount of blame coming Howard's way for Falcao's goal was a bit surprising to me. Yeah, hoof it out, but our defense had plenty of time and ability to contain the subsequent attack. They didn't and Howard gets slated. That didn't make a lot of sense to me, especially with the benefit of hindsight. No one said a squeak about Stones leaving him onside. Howard's been poor this season but I didn't think that goal was all on him.
I think it was just people coming to the boil with him - certainly it was with me.

He can have extremely good days with Hollywood saves - which can, like last season, make up for the usually poor distribution, lack of command in the box and bad decision-making. However, when he is average (and for me he has been average or poor overall so far this season) then those negatives are magnified.

Somebody yesterday mentioned a defender making a big effort to stop a ball going out of play before playing a back pass and then seeing Howard hoof it out of play himself. I was swearing at that one as well. No, the goal wasn't his fault directly, but he could see Pienaar down, he had plenty of time to take a kick, he was running (unnecessarily) way out of his area and he passed it directly to an opposition player when he knew our formation was pulled out of position and a man down.

If I thought he would be taking the international break working on his kicking and dealing with crosses, then I'd be happier. But I doubt that he will and, although he seems a nice guy and he has heaps of experience, he needs a rocket up his backside because he looks complacent. I'd honestly like to see Robles playing for the next stretch just to see what he can do with a bit of confidence that any game he gets isn't going to be a one-off just because it's the Container Haulage Reserves cup or a Europa dead leg.

It's no doubt been said and argued 100 times already.

But, we're 7 games into a season, we've played United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and a team promoted in those 7 games.

Yes, we don't look great, yes we're leaking goals, yes we're 17th. But the season is over 38 games.

Lets reassess at Christmas and then either worry or realise it's just a horrible start.

What annoys me most is the absolute hatred Lukaku has had. Fans going on that he's dreadful, then talking about "can't wait for the European tour"

You forget HIS goals got us Europe!

Onwards and upwards! (or down and out)

While I don't think we played that well, I think we can consider ourselves extremely, extremely unlucky not to have got at least a point out of it. Those saves at the end by de Gea, to pull off three or four absolutely top end saves is unreal. Any other day you'd score two goals from that, which of course would've won us the game. Would have been ace, going to United not playing well but still taking the points. Wasn't to be... story of our season so far. The Stones injury out of nothing was the icing on the cake. Just need Lukaku to drop dead now.

Our season started on Aug 16th, nearly 2 months ago. I keep reading we need a win, or a few players back and everything will snap into place and we will re-launch our season again for the 3rd time or something in the last 2 months.

Personally, I am of the opinion that the some of the players are not 100% on board with Bobby,s PMA at this point in time. Wins change everything of course but it,s not about winning one game it,s about putting a string of wins together. We may have to wait till Dec to see us getting back on form given our options now.

It would be a shocking if we had to write off the first half of the season given the money spent and the expectation for this season.
