Man mark Bale?

The likes of Heitinga/Neville/Jagielka/Anichebe(wtf?) won't be able to mark Bale. He'd just drop deep, take the ball, and run past them like they're not there.

Kone murdered Heitinga cos he's slower than homer simpson.

Side tracking slightly, many pacy footballers suffer hamstring injuries. Ask Kevin.
Bale seems to stear clear. Maybe its his turn...

The important thing is that the back-4 keep its shape.

Bale is a good player but our gameplan cannot revolve around trying to stop the other team from playing. It never works; you have to have the guts to go out and take whatever risks we need to try to win the game. Worry about ourselves first - get the service up to our own matchwinners and let Spurs do the worrying. They're the ones currently defending a CL place, they're the ones with everything to lose.

Back in the day Nev used to be pretty good at shutting down the opposing teams best player. Unfortunately he hasn't done that for a few years now.

You beat Spurs by attacking their mistake prone back 4, we pretty much only had 2 chances the last time on scored on both. You don't beat Spurs by sitting back and man marking.

Nah mate I disagree. The back four keeping shape will not prevent him from undoing us IMO. Plenty of sides have tried that. If you stop him going in behind he can shoot from distance.

On current form it's fair to say he's top 20 worldwide. Why not take him out the game completely and play 10 vs 10?

That's how you beat Everton too. They'll be as up for it as us.

Our D in open play has been pretty stout this year. You beat us with free headers on free kicks/corners. Which ironically is when you should be man marking.

We're getting better as the season goes on but we've been very, very shaky at times IMO.

More than a few sides, including Man Utd, have used a man marker to shut down our best player this year. We shouldn't be embarrassed to do the same.

Theres a huge difference between man marking fellaini and man marking bale though.
Don't think it would work on bale, we just have to make sure all our players work hard and close him down quickly.
Sit deep and nick a goal on the break is fine away to spurs.
