Lukaku

11 in 22 in the league. 12 in 24 overall.

So a respectable and neat and tidy goal every two games for the youngster.

Big Dunc was 60 odd in about 220-230 apps. Not comparing them, different teams, different everything really, but although I have doubts over his footie ability overall, he does slot.

Which is his job at the end of the day.

If he is sold in the Summer (I don't think he's in Mourinho's plans tbh) then I'd expect him to go to a team in the Champions League.. possibly in Italy or France.

Stones / McCarthy / Barkley / Lukaku -- all proven now in my eyes and will be 4/11 starters for a decade with any luck. Drop in Coleman whose got 8 odd years and also Oviedo and thats 6/11 starters all class.

The only couple of things lacking would be long term:

Keeper
Centre mid
Wingers
Centre back

Personally 20/25 mil on Lukaku (or 50!!!) Guarantees us top league placing alone. We just need to balance that with a couple of youth coming through to save money for us.

McCarthy cost us £13m.

Surely Lukaku is therefore worth £20m.

I just look at It like this, go over his benefits and list them down one by one.....then negatives and align with his age...

Surely any club in world football would want him.

I would be happy for us to break our transfer record and then some if we got to sign Lukaku permanently. Barring any big injuries he will be a phenomenal striker with a couple more seasons under his belt.

Would love us to sign him but just don't think it will happen. Can see Chelsea selling but we'd be lucky to get him as surely there'll be several teams after him.

I like Lukaku. Smart lad and passionate. Still got ALONG way to go (particularly trapping the ball). Re our buying him, I think his likely price makes it highly unlikely.

Without raining on any parades, he has a lot to improve when it comes to commanding our box and defending set pieces. My understanding is that he was signed as heir to Drogba's throne - well that was a player that was regularly the best CB on the field when it was defending a corner or free kick time.
Can't fault him on decision making without dragging loads of others into that mire as well. Him and Mirallas will go to the World Cup and if Spurs don't want him I'd have Dembele here to expand our Belgian contingent in a heart beat.
Back to us signing Lukaku, it'll depend if Chelsea spend large and who it could be because it wont be Rooney now. They'll move Torres and Eto'o on, so they might take him back for a season and use him with a marque signing. Who realistically are we vying for his permanent signature with in the PL?
