Best young striker in the world for me. I thought that even before he joined, if he was 25 mill I'd still sign him and consider it a bargain.

I see the prob with my plan like! I think Mourhino is that arrogant he just might sell circa Mata.

and a month in people said we will finish 4th.

There is a fine line between being positive and being ridiculous in my opinion.
Last thing I will say is, People say 'If that was Moyes' and then they go on to compare them both.

Lukaku scores to make it 3-2 vs Liverpool. Pienaar off, Stones on. NOT ONE person in that ground said anything about that sub. If that was Moyes...

Just interested why you think the Pienaar/Stones was a negative sub. IIRC Pienaar was looking pretty tired after a very good display and some fresh legs seemed like a good idea. Didn't he do something similar in the Chelsea game with Coleman moving up as a winger that resulted in Mikel having to do a snide tackle to stop a Coleman breakaway?

Even if you believe it wasa negative sub late in the game, isn't the Baines/Deulofeu sub on 50 mins a huge counter balance to that?

If I was going to do a "if it was Moyes" comment it would be that I could not see Moyes having 4 kids (Lukaku, Barkley, Deulofeu & Stones) on the pitch in the dying minutes of an important first derby.

That's without mentioning that after Liverpool scored Coleman was in the box and very nearly scored a winner. Like you say, he was quite clearly pushed forward

Back for the west ham game according to Martinez this morning
I find it distinctly UN-EVERTON for the last game of Lukaku's injury to be against a team he couldn't play against anyway.
Surely there's something wrong here, the Chelsea game should come just AFTER Rom has fully recovered. Someone's taken their eye off the ball when it comes to dumping on everton.

attacking player off for a defender. That is exactly what Moyes used to do. I understand what you mean though about moyes not playing 4 kids in a derby.

Some people just try to avoid saying anything negative about RM which is a bit scary.

Baines/Deulofeu was an attacking change which I think was boss. Seeing lukaku/mirallas and him using their pace was boss and I think we'd all like to see it again but that doesn't make up for the pienaar/stones sub.

get out of his **** for one second. If that was Moyes mate he would have got roared at, be honest

ste, its because moyes was known as a negative manager and those substitions happened all the time and we lost points because of it, its all about context...would we have won the game if pienaar had stayed on the pitch ? who knows...

I see what you are getting at but isn't it more about who the players involved are, their style and the way the team then sets up rather than just simplistic attacker/defender labels?

For instance if he had done the same sub but with Hibbo I would have viewed it as a negative sub as both through age and inclination he doesn't go forward much to support attacks. But Martinez used Stones who, as we found in the reverse fixture, is far more vulnerable in defense but who will go over the half way line to threaten the other team.

just wondering....Lukaku wants to play CL...fair enough. What if we finish 5th/6h, but win the cup and Rom scores the winner in the final. Enough of a crest of good feeling to make him sign??

I see what you mean, but it was balanced by the Baines/Deulofeu sub IMO.

It would have been a different matter has he took off Lukaku for Stones, like.

Moyes defensive subs were literally for the heck of it though, and even attacking subs would result in us playing in the exact same formation and same tactics. No Plan B.

At least when Bobby gets a substitution right or wrong for us, it actually seems the effect the game? Countless times this season a sub has actually affected our game, swinging it in our favour

Plus, look at it this way. We started that game with 4 defenders and 5 midfielders. And we ended it with 4 defenders and 5 midfielders. I think that's the reason he wasn't slated for the sub.
