This season was our best chance to get 4th and we blew it. I know who everyone would blame is our ex manager was in charge. But everyone is saying 'trust Martinez' and all that.
I'm not against Martinez. I'm just telling the truth.
I understand what you mean about positivity though (leaving the gap on the wall in FF) which the players walk past every day is boss.
Martinez has shown signs he is making positive changes at the club. We got our first win at one of the old Sky 4 clubs and we've played some great football, changing our style of play without dropping a single league position, thus far. Is it "ridiculous" to give this young, promising manager more than a few months to have us in the top 4 or should we all call him a failure and get the knives out now?
Looking back, I said that this year was a huge chance to go for fourth. We had a really great squad with decent depth to it. I also had Liverpool down for 7th However, I had no idea Suarez was going to average more than a goal a game for more than half the season. But hey, that's what £40 odd million spent on your front three will get you. Liverpool have probably spent in excess of £100m on forwards over the last 10-15 years. It's going to click every so often, no matter what clueless belter is in charge. It has for them this year. Hard luck.
I don't think we've blown anything when we look at the bigger picture here. I always tried to judge
Moyes this way too. It's a hard job this one. So much expectation and absolutely no help from the owners.
