Lukaku V Kane and Barkley V Alli

Kane against Arsenal at WHL last season. Kane against Stoke away last season. Kane against Stoke at home last week, Kane against Liverpool away last season. Lukaku does not have those finishes in his repertoire. He lacks finesse.

His goal against Bournemouth a month ago suggests otherwise. In fact a similar goal to the Kane goal away at Stoke last season that you've mentioned.

All of them, I think you'll find.

I'm glad we've all agreed that Kane used to be the better player and Lukaku's great strides in recent times have seen him catch up and now overtake Kane in terms of ability, as evidenced today by his 100% clear chance conversion to Kane's 50%.

I doubt he's even seen two Lukaku goals this season.

What on earth kind of argument is this?

Kane had 14 Premier League appearances (7 as sub) total before 14/15... how can he score when he's not on a PL pitch?

Lukaku had 76 Premier League appearances before 14/15.

Well the type of argument it is, is that you are willing to omit stats for the first 2 or 3 years of Harry Kanes on the basis that he was a developing player, yet will count Lukaku's goals to game appearances of the same age to hold against him and call him average.
It seems inconsistent to me.

Kane's done great for the last 2 and a half years, but Lukaku has been more consistent over the last 5 years. Stats can be used either way. Hard to choose between the two.

What I'd say though, is I think Lukaku I believe will score more goals at the end of his career. I think his ceiling is higher. I also think Kane is in a system that suits him to the ground. Not sure he could make the step up though.

As for Alli V Barkley, for me it's like comparing Cahill to Arteta. I think Alli is similar to Cahill but even better, Great in the air, a proper athlete and a clinical finisher.

Barkley I think has the potential to be better than Arteta. He probably has more to his game than Alli, but not sure he will ever have his goal output.

He may have a boring personality to you (entirely subjective) but he's clearly one of the most likeable and well grounded PL stars around. He's a role model for kids, and frankly, the rest of the PL are just jealous he came through our ranks and has taken the PL by storm.

Yes I agree entirely subjective. To me he's colourless in every way. My favourite Kane goal was the one he scored for Gent. He also misses panache.

For balance loads of Spurs players I do like: Rose, Walker, Eriksen, Dembele, Alderweireld...

It absolutely blows my mind that some people seemingly still don't rate Kane.

He is a tremendous player, seems to be a decent bloke to go with it too. He can finish, scores long rangers, tap ins, headers, holds the ball up well, good passer, fairly pacy, can dribble past or out muscle players and works his backside off.

What's not to like? Hes a complete forward.

Kane and Alli were in a team that absolutely mopped the floor with us today. The scoreline was unbelievably flattering. Ross played very well, not as good as Alli. Rom scored a goal, Kane scored 2. For a forum that only looks at the amount of goals Rom has scored when judging him, we have some remarkably flexible thinkers on here
Barkley played Alli off the park mate, he took the game by the scruff of the next when at least 6 of his fellow outfield players were having absolute nightmares

Alli did a Cahill - contributed little to the game overall but ghosted in superbly between centrebacks at the tail end of the game.

Based on today's game alone, I'd want Barkley. Dele Alli is a fantastic player though and goals normally = points, so that's a hard one. My preference watching games is to see a player running the show though.

As for Lukaku and Kane, Spur's dominance led to more chances for Kane today. 6 shots, and 2 goals is great going though. For comparison, Rom had 2 shots and scored from one of them. He is clinical.

Anyone who thinks Kane isn't a good striker is deluding themselves. He seems to be suffering more from Alan Shearer Personality Syndrome (ASPS) than anything else.

I don't think he has the Shearer thing. Shearer was like a joyless robot. Kane just seems like a normal bloke.

This is crap - Lukaku has loads more assists than Kane but scores a 6 to Kane's 7 on Link Up Play

Also comparing them on "team ethic" - Kane gets higher marks because he's a boyhood Spurs fan. Clearly makes him a better striker, obviously.
Spurs are a media darling team. Biased London journos

The way Spurs get talked about, you would think they have won 5 prem titles. 4 fa cups and 3 champions leagues. In the last 20yrs

What is it 55yrs since a title and 26yrs since a major cup win
