Lukaku V Kane and Barkley V Alli

Not sure if somebody's already posted it but the Sky Sports website had a comparison between Lukaku and Kane on their website yesterday which probably goes against most people's perception that Kane is better at holding the ball up etc.

Personally I don't see much point in comparing them, they're all good players, with different strengths and weaknesses. I wouldn't swap our two for their two, and spurs fans would probably say the same.

Lukaku's a much better goalscorer; Kane is a better footballer.

All bias aside as Evertonians, Kane is the bigger, more consistent asset in a modern football team. Not much in it though.

As for Barkley and Alli, that one is much easier - Barkley is by far the superior footballer with the higher potential ceiling.
Can't argue with that.

What I would add is I think Kane is probably as good as he is going to get as a footballer. I don't really see an improvement in him. That's not a criticism, he's probably the best centre forward in the premier league and their isn't a team he isn't good enough to start for. But I think Lukaku has area's of his game that still need improvement and IF he can do that then he can become the better player.

As regards Barkley and Alli, they are, in my opinion, two different types of player that can compliment each other, and therefore shouldn't really be compared.

Kane has scored about 30 goals in each of the last 3 seasons on the bounce

13 of which penalties and all in a much better side, with he himself being a better footballer than Lukaku.

That said, Lukaku is the better goalscorer - they are two different things. Being a better goalscorer doesn't mean he's a better striker than Kane - he's not.

Doesn't surprise me. Lukaku has come on leaps and bounds recently and although I'm unlikely to watch more than 6/7 Spurs games a season, I'm not seeing a huge difference between him and Kane in this regard at present. 2/3 years ago, sure, but not particularly now.

Lukaku has been far more creative throughout his career and is twice the player he was two years ago on the ball. He's improving at the faster rate of the two, for me.

It's clear to even the most blinkered Spurs fan that if you gave Lukaku 4 pens and put him in that Spurs team he scores a lot more than Kane's 19 this season.

Sorry you are making excuses. Kane scores goals anywhere. At the end of the day, Kane scores more than Lukaku. You make it sound like Spurs are the Harlem Globetrotters and he has amazing service. Kane works hard for his goals. If you honestly think Lukaku would beat Kane's amazing goal record in a better team, you are deluded. Kane's scoring ratio is onscene. Lukaku could only dream of his numbers.

How can you say Lukaku is a better goalscorer than Kane when since Kane made his breakthrough season 3 years ago, Kane has comfortably outscored Lukaku?

Kane has scored more goals because he's a better footballer in a better footballing side. Lukaku is still the better instinctive finisher.

Look at the gulf in class between the two sides yesterday. Can't really compare two players when the teams around them are so different.

I disagree. We got our tactics wrong yesterday. Spurs were the home side in great form and full of confidence and they deserved to win but the gap between us isn't that great.
