Current Affairs London Protests

During lockdown people have been pulled by the police for maybe just going to do their shopping. Yet they allow mass protests across England for something that happened in another country which could well accelerate the spread of deadly C-19 and cause yet more deaths that easily could've been avoided. What a joke.

So much for appreciating what our NHS workers are doing...lets stick potentially more on them.

That is outrageous, who is allowing this to happen?

Wait till the morning press , bet the picture of that fella with the union jack is all over the press and talked about on radio, it will deflect the issue.
Every front page of tomorrow's papers in this link. Almost every single one has the statue of the slave trader as the main photo. Not a single one has the guy burning the flag. Doesn't seem like the issue is being deflected

Protesting isn't an exclusively fascist strategy so it isn't ironic. As for "mob force", the vast majority of the tens of thousands of people protesting over the past 2 days in the UK have been peaceful and respectful and have been looking for a farer, more equal system. Again, not fascist.

Maybe focus on the important parts of the protests rather than a tiny minority who are causing problems.
I was replying to a post , you have taken it as a statement not in the context of what I was replying to, basically the way to fight fascism isnt by copying thier historical tactics , which led to the war .
The cenotaph and those flags have been used to honour and commemorate the people who died to fight agaist Fascism.
Who were mainly working class and included vast numbers were from non white ethnic backgrounds as well.
Anybody defacing them or standing up for people who do it are just plain deluded or daft.
I have not said in any post that the majority of the protesters are not law abiding people with a genuine right to protest on this cause , bit daft during the present crisis , was about the harshest in I have come out with in regards to the majority of the marchers.

They let one guy drive with Coronavirus to from London to Durham with his wife and kid then before he drove back, let him drive 40 minutes to test his eyesight.

Some of the stuff you hear is unreal!

He should have been locked up, driving while eyesight is impaired, kids in the car, endangering every body he passed / met on his journey, including his parents as he and his wife had symptoms going down there.

Apologies if I've misunderstood. You said it was ironic though and mentioned mob force which made think you were saying these protests were the same as those of fascists.

He should've just apologised and said while it may not have been illegal, it was against the spirit of the issue.

As for protesting in London, under current regulations also illegal.

No fair point mate. I mean I did try to put certain caveats into the response and make clear I was commenting on what evidence we had. I'm sure there's a much bigger narrative. As I've said, I hope the officer is ok. As a country we need to look closely at what is fuelling this anger and start trying to heal divisions that have been allowed to fester for too long.

The protesters should be using common sense and not acting out in the middle of a covid.

Isn't that his own fault.

It is illegal to drive when your eyesight isnt up to standard , he said his eyesight was affected and he was testing it to see if it was ok to drive, the minute he put the key in and started the car he had broke the law, by the way if you are having trouble with you eyesight why put your kids in the car, not the best parenting.
god help the world if I got behind the wheel of a car without my glasses or lenses in for instance.
He should have just owned up and said he had panicked and made a mistake as you say, but the arrogant way he dealt with it and the government , at a time they were trying to get a message across to stay in left a bit of a bad taste, hopefully the Tories grow tired of him and the shambolic leadership he is behind and ditch them both soon.
I think him and boris will be gone by the end of next year, Tories are ruthless when it comes to hanging on to power , they will ditch them in a heartbeat if it affects that aim.

This is a good watch on the issue of statues. It makes a lot of very salient points and I think is well worth watching. Yes it is based on America but the points ring true for the UK as well
