I suppose this is why we shouldn’t really put too much importance on the term “Lived experience”. The trump card that young activists seem to be using these days.

Everyone has a different experience no matter who you are. And everyone has a different point of view of what that experience actually was for them.
I’m intrigued by your points here. Does this mean the banter I got when I lived in Liverpool about being a wool (which I am) or posh (which I’m not) because I’m from Chester are equivalent to if I was black and got racially abused? Because that is a massive false equivalency if so.

My point was one of representation. Not about sol Campbell specifically.

I honestly dont know the full ins and outs of ex pro's going into management mate but surely if less BAME players are getting their badges then naturally less will be going into management?

I just dont think that everything has to be a conspiracy or some evil plot especially considering more club owners in the top flight these days are foreign themselves.

I also imagine if someone like Campbell is a top manager- surely some championship owner who's club is worth £50 million would ignore his skin colour if they thought he could get them promoted into the land of milk and honey doubling their clubs value in the process?

Just doesn't make sense to me why they would purposely not employ folk based on race.

Bit of topic - but I love a sexy Chester accent

I have been giving the change of streets some thought, and I have decided its a daft idea. Reason is, when roads are built, they are usually named along the lines of a common theme.

The streets around that statue in Bristol are, I reckon, named after members of Bristol Merchant Ventures. Colston Avenue, Augustines Parade, Trenchard Street, Frogmore Street, and Baldwin Street.

They then lead into Princes Street, Queens Square, Kings Street. Get the idea?

Keep the statue in a museum or docks, arsed either way, rename the Colston Hall, (being done anyrate), but leave the streets as is.

Oh, Liam Rosenior was on earlier, (local lad), and said he educated himself on slavery and stuff, then added "there is still a street in Bristol called Black Boy Hill". There is, but is named after a pub, which is named after King James 1st.
Seen that Colstons school have announced they’ll be going through a consultation around changing the name. Do wonder how many schools in the country will be doing similar, I know there’s been calls at colleges in the state to rename halls named after slave owners

Who ever said it's an evil plot? It seems clear you haven't really paid attention to much of what is being said by BLM and other groups regarding race in 21st Century Britain - it's not the old style 'no blacks, no dogs' stuff - it's a lack of opportunity, a lack of representation, amongst many other things.

You have literally said 'I don't know the ins and outs' but then in the same sentence tried to make a call based on that lack of knowledge.

are a couple of decent places to find more

I talked the other day lack of representation at leadership levels in education, politics, law, business, and sport.

lots of different fields that are over represented by white men (who represent roughly 42% of the population in the U.K.).

What is your reason for it? That it’s so consistent across discipline and it’s always in favour of white males.

I’m interested to know why you think it is. What’s your reasoning?

Wouldnt surprise me.

The thing is though, Colston Girls School is an exceedingly well thought of school. Not sure a change of name would be the wisest move.

I think it's normally used to counter the 'university of life' and 'you'll get some wisdom when you're older' crowd

You also need gloss over that Campbell did bits at Arsenal before he left to run an interior design business with his wife and tried to get elected as mayor of London too.
Joey Barton stabbed someone in the eye with a lit cigar, fought in streets, argues with people on twitter, amongst other things. Got his first job much easier than Campbell. And Campbell's playing career was 1000x better than Barton's. Barton got a job at a well-resourced aspirational League 1 team and Campbell had to start with literally the worst club in the league.
