Extremism/ terrorism etc is a byproduct of colonialism. Tell the UK/ USA politicians to stop using their armies to invade and occupy other peoples countries and we probably wouldn't have these problems. Same applies to a lot of the refugees that people have issues with. Religion isn't the problem in the world today for the most part.

Since we seem to be using a miniscule minority to judge an entire religion's worshippers, I'd like to share a story about a girl I went to school with of Iranian descent. Her family were/are Muslim, including herself. Now, if you only go by what the newspaper/tabloid headlines tell you, the next part of my story will probably make you think this is fiction - it is not. She is gay now (as of 4 years ago), and has been in a loving relationship with another woman for years and her religious family accepts them with open arms.

I just wanted to add a bit of opposing light to the 'discussion' going on about how Islam apparently 'needs reform'.

I somehow doubt this story of a young kid who recently died trying to protect an elderly woman is going to get the same coverage when “need to reform Islam” comes up.
