Ahh so now he's been coerced into wearing the armband. Glad we can drop the false pretenses of suggesting it wasn't done for any other reason than him disagreeing with supporting the campaign

Asking people to accept others and wear symbols of that support is antagonistic?

What about the campaign is antagonistic?
If someone says wear this armband. You can choose not to, but it will be picked up on and scrutinized in the media, attacking your character or opinions based on 1 decision. Yes, its still technically a choice, but its loaded.

Just look at Carsley and the national anthem BS. EVERY Single game he managed them, they made sure to focus their cameras on him not singing. They knew what they were doing.

If you believe strongly enough that you don't want to wear it then you should feel strongly enough to deal with what the rest of the media and society will say about that decision. It's still their choice, they just have to live with the consequences.

Or are we crying here because society has moved past the backwards religious views Guehi appeared to be voicing support of?

What about those religious communities using someone's sexual preferences as a way of attacking their moral character? Is that sound then?

Because that's what the religious hard liners are doing and you seem to only have an issue when it's society and the media criticizing the decision to publicly support that.

Either way, its still coercion.

But... How did you know he didn't? Did you watch the game? Saw it with your own eyes? Didn't have it pointed out by a commentator etc?
He didn’t get grief, no one was calling for his head - quite the opposite tbh. Compare that to jimmy mcclean when he doesn’t wear a poppy!

Basically, no one is forcing anything on anyone or forcing anything down anyone’s throat - it’s just the gammons gammoning

It's the illusion of choice. The gaslighters dream.

No it isn't.

Having to face a consequence if you decide one way or the other isn't coercion. Being judged for your choice isn't coercing.

Coercion involves force. Nobody is forced to wear the armband.

Claiming that people might make it uncomfortable for you is a form of coercion is an unbelievable form of victimhood that makes mockery of the LGBTQ people who have been attacked and murdered for being who they are.

Coercion happens when society tells you that you have to pretend to be straight or religious hardliners might find out and KILL you if you don't. That's coercion.

I mean, he clearly is getting grief. Understandably so like, i'm not saying it's wrong, but it's bizarre to pretend like everyone's just said 'ah no worries then' or completely ignored it, he's definitely been heavily criticised for it.

What are you on about?
It was talked about, no one was crying about it. I’m just pointing out the rightwing waffle that ‘it is being forced on us’ ‘rammed down our throats’

It’s just not, mate.

You lot are the only ones making it an issue

I genuinely didn’t hear anything - the general reception I saw was that it was considered his choice and nothing else
