Lewis Dobbin

The new manager needs to show this guy some love. There should be absolutely no circumstances where Rondon is on the pitch ahead of him.

I think it would be wise for the next Manager to play with 3 up top.

Richarlison, DCL and Gray should cause the opposition some problems. I see no reason why Dobbin wouldn't be good back up / a substitute replacement. At this stage of his career it would benefit him.

I'm more positive about his chances of staying now that Benitez is hopefully on his way.

Any news on this guy?
Well he’s not a kid anymore , he’s coming to the end of his first pro contract so his agent will be looking to negotiate with a DoF or first team manager, neither of which we currently have . If he’s got any sense he’ll wait until things are clearer until he considers a new contract. On the other hand Uncle Bill was involved in the Patterson contract negotiations, so he could well be offering him a multi million pound deal as we speak and it‘ll all be sown up by Friday .

He’s not in the training footage this week so maybe he’s back with the u23s for now. Given the value Dunc puts on loyalty maybe he just sees no point wasting energy developing someone who appears to be leaving.
A strange one as Onyango and Simms were there in training and also dropped down to U23s last weekend, hopefully Dobbin isn’t injured.
Putting it into perspective, Dobbin has just turned 19, Gordon is 21 next month , Dobbin at a similar stage in his development as Gordon was two years ago. Whether we can convince him he’s on the same path is another matter .

The fact that Onyango and Simms were training with the firsts and Dobbin wasn't suggests an injury, but makes me wonder if a line has been drawn. If he's not interested in a contract we shouldn't be wasting time developing him for another club.

I'd love him to stay, but at the same time from what I've seen he's a good 19 year old player, and one of our better players in that age group but not a wonderkid and if he is making crazy demands we shouldn't be bending over backwards. We have Okoronkwo who is 17 and plays a similar role and I get the feeling he's maybe the better prospect.
