Leaving Goodison - feelings

NEA'd really I don't mind the present Goodison had some good times there Bayern for one and Wimbledon...Rooney Vs Arsenal

But when I go to the Goodison in the Sky, this one won't be this one, It'll be the old one with the old stand, the proper Archie Leitch Stand, the one with 5' 3" Bobby Collins facing down a 6' 2" WBrom grock ( wise move on his part)
The one with Kay and Vernon smoking ciggies and cigars in the Directors Box, With Alex Young rising above everybody to nod home Vs Spurs. Having a goal disallowed for offside Vs Inter. The Battle of Goodison Vs Leeds. The arcs behind the goal.
The 66 World Cup.
Alan Ball ripping the rs a new one in his 1st Derby
Ball again Vs Lpool in the cup (the screens at analfield)
The Holy Trinity
Seeing the floodlights from the 500, before you got there
The Brick Exterior ('k the cladding)
The old Marble main entrance
The Square Clocks...got to get the one surviving one back at the Docks.
50-60K+ crowds
Cash at the door, 3 shillings - 6d for a prog.
Collecting the all the vouchers to get a Cup Final Ticket
Police Horses and horse s...The smell of the crowd and the roar of tobacco, beer, piss and sweat, tea with sterrie in it...if you could get served.
Brass Band Music before the KO
Z cars
Joe and his mate with the big board advertising next week wrestling at the old stadium.
The toffee Girl - never did get one

The only records are mostly photos in B&W
But when I see it it's in full colour and surround sound...todays 'bearpit' is but a pale shadow

That said, even if I have to buy a season ticket for 1 game and fly from Brisbane, I'll be there if I'm not dead.

So don't hang about Mosh.

yay....great post, Degsy ;)

Been in every section pre seats and with seats, barring the old Park End Standing section, never got in there, and it's never gonna happen now is it?lol

I was there just once.....my first derby in 1971.

David Johnson scored the winner down the Street and me and my cousin were jumping up and down in the Park End standing area, surrounded by RS....

Still livid that Jags is hiding me from the picture in the OP.

You're definitely there mate

As I'm foreign and younger(broke-ish) I've only been once in 2005. It was the friendly against Udinese. I know not many will care about or remember this name but Simon Davies scored in the last minute. As I celebrated wildly (like the game actually meant something) I glanced down a bit and the older gentleman in front of me (probably heard my family's accent) just turned his head slightly and gave me a wink. I'll never forget that face/that day.

As @Dutch Toffee and @TheFinnFan have said I'll be there but I won't be trying for a ticket that should go to a Liverpudlian.

Loved that post.....up until the very last word

I would rather y'all had a ticket than no stinking Kopite....

Only place I never got to go was the park end stand. Went in the park end terrace once...alright game like, not much to write home about...Bayern Munich.

If one game stands out for me it is the Southampton cup replay circa 1981.

I remember having to queue for over an hour to get in.......about 50,000 showed up and they had only opened half the turnstiles, it was pay at the gate.

The match wasn't great but Eamon O'Keefe scoring the only goal of the game in extra time sent us all into a frenzy of delight and I have never seen such celebrations at Goodison

(I wasn't at the Bayern Munich semi final :()
