Leaders on the pitch?

theres hardly any proper captains about in the premier theses days, well not the passionate hard as nails looking skippers that there used to be. Mina may develop into something of a captain hard to say but who else is there?

because they are beaten before they go out onto the pitch. There are no Pete Reids, Lee carsleys or Dave Watson feels who make everyone know they are in a game. Them frauds last night let a load of kids bully them then pass around them. Utterly devastating being a blue (but I still wouldn't want their history)
Maybe im getting old but fellas like Reid, Carsley, Watson. They actually looked like men, walked like men, ran like men, tackled like blokes - not kids.

Our whole team are a bunch of kids, they look like kids, run like kids or very old men (Siggy/Gomes/Shned), tackle or dont tackle like kids. There is no man desire in any of their faces just fear and anxiety. Even the classier act Richarlison has a permanent snarl on his face.

That Minamino fella who played his first game for Lpool and cost a snip

. One look at the fella. He looked hungry, focused, switched on, energized.

The big hard man thing is done. The successful teams of today go for intelligence. Get just 2 or 3 smart thinkers in your 11 & it can transform a team. Back it up with a modicum of talent & up the table you shall go.

people lead in different ways, some shout and ball, the ones who are winners will be respected as long as they're not bells. Others lead by example on and off the pitch. There isn't a right or wrong way to lead you just have to be adaptable as those under will follow different traits.

Holgate looks the part. Holds himself like he has confidence and will not be bullied - its just a pity he is not quite up to the upper end of the Prem.

The transfer window when City went for it though. That's the way to boss it.
Top goalie. Hart.
Top centre half. Kompany.
Top midfielder. Ya Ya.
Top striker. Aguero.

All in one window.

Exactly, Bish Bash Boom Bang!

Whole new spine, miles better than what they had or ever had and instantly got them on an upward curve

I know we need central midfield players, a centre half and a goalscorer but the thing I think we lack the most is a leader on the pitch.

Delph was apparently bought with this in mind but I've seen no sign of it myself. Coleman, Mina and Pickford shout and point a lot but it seems to have little effect.

We need to sign a player that garners respect from his peers, organises on the pitch and takes no crap from refs and the media. Only problem is I'm not sure who we could get that fits that profile!
Well we have Pickford but everyone says he's up his own arse so not sure?

Have said it before but there are massive generational differences in what people see as leadership. Football is no different to other professions in that sense.

Unfortunately my ‘source’ at Everton is just an ex-player who knows nothing of transfers etc, but he knows about previous set ups and still has mates there who pass stuff on. He reckons younger players like DCL, Davies etc who have very modern outlooks on diet and that kind of thing just have no interest in what someone like Rooney says to them when he drinks 5 pints and eats a curry the night before training. What some fans see as leadership, some players despise.
