Those who are old enough to remember. How many of you genuinely believed in the autumn and winter of 1983, that our team was full of Top notch performers and had leaders all over the pitch? I'm not suggesting for one minute that the players we have today are a patch on that team. However, time and again I've seen teams totally transformed by the arrival of one player or one moment. I seriously believe that, with the right galvanising agent, the current team has a far higher performance threshold than we are seeing at the moment. Remember, hindsight is a wonderful thing. The following team was booed off the pitch on New Year's Eve 1983.

100% agree with this post ,I never booed them just as I wouldn't sign the ballot to get Howard out .As you point out the biggest difference could be the net ,oh and six or seven players but some of them are on the books now .
I for one have been like a bear with a sore head this week trying to avoid friends ,even in Finland ! It is a bad time but the team are not as bad as the posts on here suggest and one good signing later we will be up again -that is Everton for the last 20 years .Yes I know it was 1995 but we had a few years grace without the internet .

I think Gomes and Gbamin might have shared this responsibility, but that's empty talk now
I would really like the young players to be given that responsibility, because it will help them grow. I'm talking about Pickford, Holgate, Davies, DCL and Kenny if he comes back , as well as Richarlison. I don't know who's THE captain from that bunch, but if you have them pushing the agenda and tactics and vision on the pitch, as well as driving us forward when we are drifting, I think it'll help. Until we find a senior leader
