Last Film You Watched

Yep, saw it last weekend, lots of laughs, very charming. In a cinema full of kids going mental on haribo as well which added to the raucous occasion.

Watched death of stalin last night, superb film, it's far darker than iannucci's other stuff, the laughter very much goes hand in hand with genuine horror and tragedy, there are in fact a few moments in the film where the laughter pretty much stops and you are reminded that this stuff happened and how terrible it was, but it's also a genuinely brilliant piece of satire, the decision not to use crappy russian accents and just have a mix of accents works very well with the absurdity and chaos of the whole affair, brilliant cast with Buscemi and issacs being particularly fantastic

I agree entirely, but I can see why it has got some mixed reviews - its so consistently funny that when the bits you mention come along half the time you wonder whether they will turn into a joke by the end of the scene.

Well you'd be right to say I'm excited by having the Justice League in a film mate, one of my childhood wishes were fulfilled!lol

I appreciate that Marvel made their cinematic universe first but I see no reason for that to make any difference with DC films. DC tried to go a different route to Marvel in MOS and BvS but were crapped on for it. They've took the criticism onbord and altered the tone in Justice League accordingly. Its far more lighter in its tone but thankfully hasn't one down the Marvel route and turned it into a self-parody of what it once was (I'm looking at Ragnarok here) or become a lame joke fest like Guardians of the Galaxy two was.

Ok so the Villain, the CGI wasn't great and that's a valid criticism but I really don't think he was any worse then a large chunk of characters featured in Marvel films. Ultron springs to mind and the laughable character made of rocks in the last Thor film.

I thought they'd made his back story perfectly clear tbh pal. His name is Seppnewolf and he's the general of the army of Apokolips. He's travelled all over the multiverse conquering world but was handed his one and only defeat on earth by the combined forces of Atlantians, Amazon's and men (and a Green Lantern if you watch the scene carefully). He couldn't return until all the mother box's worked as they'd been dormant and separated since the first invasion so he's now returning to exact his revenge. Very simple comic story really.

The plot does make sense, it just has more then a few holes in it. Something that always happens in comic films. The mother box's were the reason he was able to return to earth, after his defeat thousands of years ago the three box's were devided up and remained dormant until they started to vibrate giving Seppnewolf there location. Coincidence? Sure, typical comic thing.

I couldn't disagree with you more over Superman, I think these films have easily been the best interpretation of Superman ever on film. He's more like the actual comic character and less like what people who have an old school vision of what superman should be. I'm no fan of Ben Afflick and they should work on the Barman suit but again, he's the closest thing to the comic character ever to be on screen in a film.

Aquaman was really good and i cant wait for his solo film. your right Connie Nelisen was stunning but Amber Heard as Mera was on a other level, she is jaw droppingly beautiful.

You can't poke holes in Marvel films? On that mate, we'll have to agree to massively disagree! I think some of Marvel's film story telling has been so poor and cringeworhy at times I've been embarrassed to be seen watching it. Have they built their film world very well? Yes they have and DC have a lot of catching up to do but I think they've tackled that very well in the films made so far. We've been introduced to the whole team (minus Green Lantern) and I'd like to see more. This trilogy has developed superman perfectly Imo. They'll all get their chance to shine in uocoming solo films. The Ben Afflick leaving Batman problem is easily resolved, just let the Flash solo film be flashpoint and problem sorted. New Barman for a logical in plot reason.

As far as stealing plots, loads of Marvel films are just as guilty of that as anyone. I really feel the whole DCEU gets a bad rap and lots of very harsh and sometimes unjustified criticism but that's just me.

All about opinions though as you said. Films and everything else would be very boring of we all just agreed on everything.;)

Just read this back and wow, I think this might be the longest post I've ever made on GOT!lol

Good reply and fair enough. Watched it again today in 3D and you know what it actually gets a little better on review. There's a few points I'm too tired to bring up now, but one thing not mentioned is the score. It's superb, and when you realise Danny Elfman did the soundtrack it makes sense.

Sean Bean with his Americshire accents, ruined what might've been.

Another GoT actor in a not very good film.
