Last Film You Watched

For realism? K-19.

Das Boot is excellent, Red October would get played every patrol, as it is fun. The US Sub scenes are very accurate, as they got actual sub sailors to play the roles. They even put Scott Glenn underway shadowing a real CO for a couple of weeks to further authenticate his performance.

Hostile Waters is another great sub movie.

Crimson Tide is not a good sub movie, or movie in general. So many things wrong with it, it really takes a dump on the silent service.

Omg you watch submarine movies on a submarine? Thats like watching Air Crash Investigations on an airplane!!

There was a couple of movies that got burned every patrol. The Hunt for Red October and The Long Kiss Goodnight. Every single underway.

True Romance

Had only seen bits of it before, can understand why it's a cult hit. 7/10.

Death of Stalin

Recently came up on Amazon Prime. Thought Buscemi & Jason Issacs were great in it. 9/10.

Watched this yesterday with fairly high hopes but was a bit disappointed with it.

Killing Them Softly

It's a mob/gangster film with absolutely none of the glamour or big characters of others in the genre and a whole lot of grimness. It revolves around a financial crisis within a small local criminal economy and the brutal bloodletting, lies and deceit required to restore that economy.

As it plays out it draws parallels with the larger 2008 financial meltdown and it's own solution - the brutal financial austerity unleashed against those who played no part in causing that crisis.

Very good and definitely worth a watch.
