Last Film You Watched

2 & 3 go crazy on the shaky-cam/fast cut for action sequences. In one of them, there is an 6 second sequence of Liam Neeson jumping over a fence and there is 15 cuts!!!!! FIFTEEN in 6 seconds! And a car chase scene with over 40 cuts in about 23 seconds. They are just piles of dog turd for any sort of cohesive viewing.

That sort of crap ruined Quantum Solace too, bit of a comedown after the expert long-take action sequences of Casino Royale. At least I managed to finish Quantum, never could watch more than 10 minutes of any live-action Transformers movie.

Family Guy ripped into this film-making style quite nicely here:

In fact dude, watch this. This guy sums the Taken trilogy up perfectly (its where I stole my cut count from):

Good vid. He's wrong about the 9 cameras shooting for half a day versus 3 cameras shooting for 3 days though but he makes a good point.

Brilliant movie. Now go watch #2, but don't bother with 3.

Have you seen the other classic Eddie Murphy movies?

Trading Places
Coming to America
48 Hours

All should be compulsory viewing.

I have but it was a long time ago and I can barely remember them. The only thing I can remember is the Soul Glo (??) from Coming To America or am I confusing that with something else? Like I say, it's been a while. Definitely going to keep my eyes open for some more peak Murphy.

Watched Rampage last night.

Switch off the brain and enjoy the ride Dwayne Johnson takes you on.

Didn't expect great things but it's surprisingly well done. Tongue firmly in cheek and doesn't overstay it's welcome.

Cockneys Vs Zombies

Better than it sounds but still not close to good. Managed to be quite funny in some places but the director must have been afraid of telling some of the older stars to do a scene again as they're pretty terrible in some scenes although the dialogue does them no favours...especially Alan Ford, absolutely awful in parts.

It's daft and played for laughs rather than horror or suspense and given the title I doubt anyone was bringing their A-game.

I enjoyed the first Transformer movie for what it was.

And here is a cool vid of the voice of Optimus Prime describing how he came up with the sounds of the antagonist in the greatest movie ever made:

I actually watched that, he tells a good story so he does.

A fun 8/10 is Predator. Just outside my top 100.

2001 & Excalibur tied for the greatest.

As a subman, what's the best sub film? Das Boot or Hunt for Red October?

Expected more , but watchable 6/10

For realism? K-19.

Das Boot is excellent, Red October would get played every patrol, as it is fun. The US Sub scenes are very accurate, as they got actual sub sailors to play the roles. They even put Scott Glenn underway shadowing a real CO for a couple of weeks to further authenticate his performance.

Hostile Waters is another great sub movie.

Crimson Tide is not a good sub movie, or movie in general. So many things wrong with it, it really takes a dump on the silent service.
