Koeman Not Confident On Barkley

Honestly couldn't not be bothered one bit if he went. He is stupid if he thinks it's brighter on the otherside. He is going to do a Rodwell/Jeffers in my opinion.

I agree, I don't think he will be a major loss and is replaceable, he obviously doesn't like the thought that he will have competition for his place but if we want to be a top 5 club then we need competition in every area

Hopefully koeman is moving us away from the moyes and martinez days where you kept your place no matter what because your the managers mate

I'd like to hear what Ross has to say about it all tbh. Hoping for an honest interview with him at some point.
Probably won't happen until after signs a contract for us or whoever it may be. Even then he may decide not to say anything of note and just say he wanted a fresh challenge.

We definitely need competition for his place with the extra games next season, he struggles for consistency any way, as we've seen in the past not many go on to better themselves once they leave so if he thinks he can see ye later, but you would think being a blue he would take the bull by the horns and be the main man, anyway we've got Davies who's coming on leaps and Bounds defo our future captain

Nailed on.

I honestly think bringing in a few more players who are better than him would bring out the best in him, but there's no guarantee on transfers so he may not improve any more here.
I'd love to keep him too. But thinks it's mainly because the Everton in me knows he will turn into Messi as soon as he leaves here.
Nice to see a Barkley conversation on here that doesn't revolve around broken legs and Koeman bullying.

I want Ross to stay for 2 reasons. Firstly he has it in him to be a top class talent who can dominate and affect the outcome of games. These types of player don't grow on trees. You can see how important he is to us by the number of MOM performances he has had for us this season (based on GOTs MOM votes), in what almost everyone would consider to be an average season at best for him. Plus he is still only 23, which is still young for a player of his type on who huge expectation is summarily placed.

The second reason is I fully agree with your opinion that he will flourish with better players around him, not least for the competition it brings. At the moment he is our only creative player and continually carries the full weight of expectation on his shoulders. This needs to be shared around and it is too easy for teams to stop us by overloading players on him. Better players will also give him more options ahead of him. It is no coincidence that his (and Evertons) performances have dropped since Seamus was injured.

He isn't the finished article by any means and he regressed badly during 2016. But Koeman's hard work seemed to be starting to pay off which is why I'm convinced he can continue to develop with the right calibre of player around him.

My main concern if he leaves is that we are unable to attract the calibre of player to effectively replace him, because I believe the majority of our fans (those on GOT at any rate) don't realise how important he is to us. I'm also concerned that we just go for one player to replace him and think it's job done. When in reality we need to bring in at least one more additional creative player if we're going to challenge the top 4 next season. You look at every team above us and they all have at least 2/3 creative players in their starting XI and usually another to bring off the bench.

There is of course the third concern, which is that he goes to another club and smashes it. I'm not sure what my emotions would be if that happened.

Having said all that, I have to support the stance club has taken. Barkley has a contract on the table that he needs to sign or not sign. He can't be deliberating when he only has 1 year left on his existing contract so I accept the hard line being taken by the club. We need to plan for next year with or without him. Same with Rom. Decisions need to be made early in the summer and not left until the middle of August. But before castrating Barkley for being a traitor I'd like to know a little bit more about the contract that's on offer.

Eh, his agent probably just told him to wait until the offseason. I can't really blame him if you look at some of the wages of part time players like Walcott that the rich clubs are paying.

Really? Do you think that Sandro, for example, is anyway affected by a miss-firing midfielder with four goals to his name leaving EFC?

Davies offers more and will offer more than Barkley.
