It's already happened to him once and there's not that much of a difference between something happening once and twice.

For my money this seems to be the case. Think he would do well under Poch at Spurs, although he'd have to fight for his place more than he ever has here. Would leave him nailed on for a place in future England squads too.

That's the way it should be! If we're serious about challenging at the top end then we need genuine competition for places. No free rides because we don't have a decent alternative, as has been the case for certain players.

He could easily play Schneiderlin, Gana, Barry, Davies, Mirallas ahead of Barkley, under the guise of tactics, but there'd be more to it. I bet he is on the bench tomorrow and doesn't come on.
