I think we should be praising the chairman that led to the creation of the RS. Not because they came into existence, but because they acted as a magnet for generations of fans who have/had a propensity for being bad bellends. Kept them away from our club.

Exactly, it's this attitude that we should be greatful that he never turned us into a Leeds or Sunderland or Villa, maybe if he let his grip go a touch especially over the Kings dock then maybe, just maybe we would of had a sheik monsour or an Abramovich or even an Usmanov and Moshiri looking to buy us, but no, be thankful for the 20 odd years of mediocrity and don't ever get ideas above your stations Evertonians

The RS nearly went bankrupt but what happened, they find better investors nearly win the league got to a EL final and a champions league final (which hopefully they lose) but they improved, why didn't they turn into a villa or whatever, it says even more about Bills incompatance that he wasn't capable of finding a decent investor in 20 years, because there's plenty out there other than a Venky or Tan character

At the time I thought Kenwright was the messiah.

Johnson and Walter Smith were just toxic for us, we had flirted with relegation more than once and were playing dire football until Kenwright managed to cobble the funds together to buy out Johnson and then install Moyes as manager.
The period of relative stability that followed was, for me, a breath of fresh air, we even qualified for the CL......briefly.

What blotted Kenwrights copybook was the crap and spin that followed. The Kings Dock thing was a taster, spinning ridiculously low bids for quality players to make it appear as if the club were attempting to compete, involving that nobhead Phillip Green with us, the complete lack of transparency in the clubs accounts and the totally inept managerial hierarchy until very recently. For these reasons I cannot agree with him still having any meaningful input at the club.

We should thank him for delivering us from Peter Johnson and providing stability but that's probably about the best I can say about him.

I guess we won't agree then. I am grateful for deliverance from Johnson, but that's about it. I don't buy into what could have happened .... it's easy to say with hindsight what might have happened, truth is we can but guess. My argument is as valid as yours and I somewhat resent the implication that I have happily accepted what has happened,

Big difference is I accept what happened because I can't change it and I don't vilify someone who had the cajones to try.

I have only respect for the man. However I really would like to know how the Kings Dock project was cocked up. That cost us mega bucks and much time lost.

AFAICR it boiled down to power struggle between Kenwright and Paul Gregg - BK was the controlling shareholder at EFC but couldn't raise the money (but of course said that he could) whereas PG arguably could but (understandably) wanted to run the show on his terms. Complete impasse - everyone lost.
