Arsenal lashed a reported 12-13 mill on Arshavein, less then we payed for Fellaini.

Yes, but they did that

(1) without selling 2 strikers;

(2) with cash up front, as opposed to paying over the next x years;

(3) on a player who is on £80k a week (£4m a year), probably more than twice what Fellaini is on, possibly three times;

(4) In the middle of the season, when they identified an urgent need.

Also Fellaini cost 15m euros, not pounds. Are we sure Arshavin was £13m? I've seen reports as high as £16.5m.

I don't think this is an argument that Arsenal have less money than us. They don't have too much more (certainly not United levels), but they certainly have some.

The reason Milan sold is because they are in deep [Poor language removed] due to the economic crisis, they needed it.

They aren't in deep [Poor language removed], they just don't have money like Chelsea and City. Three months ago they were trying to obtain Beckham and his incredible wages.

Nor were they in deep [Poor language removed] when they sold Shevchenko. It was just a sensible financial decision.

Seriously, sometimes top teams sell their best players. It happens.

Yet still we finished three wins of them in a very chalenging season decimated by injuries, which has to be a great advertisement for keeping your best players.

Still had the luxary of being able to feild a yong second 11 form their squad in the cups.

Not in the Champions League, in which their first team played more cup games than we did (12ish?). Next season, we'll have to deal with the Europa Cup (if we give that a go), where we'll have to play an extra 10+ games if we just qualify to the knockouts, and possibly as many as 17 I think.

United have accepted an offer for Ronaldo BTW. Sad for the Premier League in general, cos the cheater was brilliant.

Picked the wrong arguement on the wrong day, didnt i! :lol:

Id be dissapointed if i was a Utd fan, as a footie fan in general im dissapointed! Still against the Lescott thing, and could go into the whole he was a finishing palyer, rather then a Vidic/Fedinand foundation player, but am of out with the girlfriend.

Would the same arguement and sense still apply if say City bid for Arteta rather then Lecott?

I'd be more worried about losing Arteta than Lescott. TBH.

I don't want to lose Lescott but if he wants to go, then we should let him leave. Nothing for under 20 million, the board will try to do there best to give Moyes' some decent funds but i feel we'll be abit short, so Joleon's money may come in handy. We have 2 brilliant centre backs in Yobo and Jagielka but then again Phillip is out till at least October, so we may need to keep Lescott, even if he does want to leave.

Great player but i'd be sorely tempted at 20 million and i'm confident Moyes' could pick up a decent player at 7 million and under who would be able to compete in the Premiership.

The key for me is the fact that Jags is going to be out so long, losing Lescott would mean we would HAVE to buy at least 1 CB and possibly a LB. We just couldnt go into the season with no real cover at CB or LB.

It would depend which other areas we used the money on. We have Neville who can play either Fullback, so we wouldnt be totally screwed. It just doesnt seem like a good idea to me.

As I say it would have to be somewhere in the region of £30m+ for me to even think about it.
