Welcome to Barcelonaton FC
First of all, agree with your post. He isn't worth 15-20 million, fact. But the time realism prevailed on transfers in this currently mad footballing world, has long been gone. As I see it, City wants to be seen as a new big force in world football. All good and well, but make sure they pay like crazy in order to do so. Use City as our milking cow. Get Senderos in asap and stuck want-away Lescott on the bench, directly besides Moyes. Name our price, mine would be somewhere between 25-30 million, or 20 million plus Jo.
Thing that I hate most in this transfer saga, is the way Lescott waited so long, before handing in his transfer request. Reminds me a lot of Rooney, who also waited till the last minute, before declaring he wanted out.
Sensible...but Everton dont do sensible.
We should've slapped a price on him the minute he was tempted to be going. Even with Citeh's finances they wouldnt pay £25mill never mind £30mill but at least we'd have a leg to stand on.
All we got now is "he's not for sale" even though he wants to go. By saying "we want £30mill for him" they've got to offer us something knowing what we want. But we havent done it like that. What we've done is sat off, stood firm, while Citeh have pecked away with Lescott knowing full well he'd be getting £90k a week. Even Ian Wright, who's son plays for Citeh, said when does it stop when a team can just go after a player over and over - a player who in season 2007/2008 wouldnt have even sniffed at Shitteh's advances, even last season. But no, we allowed them to peck away at him.
