I'd say the fact you were openly trying hawk Lukaku to the highest bidder is slightly different to us writing you a letter telling you he isn't for sale and then continuing with your pursuit of him anyway

Two things kid, first Lukaku had been on loan for a year and secondly it was quiet clear Chelsea wanted to sell him.

Stones is our player and we've continually said we don't want to sell him so why should your club and its players make out like it's an inevitable transfer?

Key difference being we had loaned Romelu the season before and were in discussions with Chelsea to buy him. Also at no point has Maryinez spoken as though we'd already bought Lukaku and had him in the team. Martinez has basically said: we have fond memories of Lukaku from his time with us, we hope he has a good World Cup, he has everything to be a top number 9, we are interested in him but it's up to Chelsea and the player.

Let's compare to what Jose and Cahill/Terry have said (along with every other affiliated media outlet you could manipulate): we know you said Stones wasn't for sale but here's two public bids for him anyway, GC: Stones cannot turn down coming here for the good of his career, JT: Chelsea are planning their future without me on John Stones.

Do you see the difference between the two? The key one being one player was for sale, and one wasn't. Managers talk about players all the time, it's how you do it, that is the point Martinez is making. As soon as we loaned Lukaku our interest was evident, saying it again was open up front and we left the ball firmly in Chelsea's court. We did not try to use media pronouncements to pressure you into a sale. We told you twice Stones wasn't for sale and still you've gone and hot current players, ex players, and journalists to talk about him as though he already plays for you. It's not tapping up, it's not illegal but it's utterly classless and smacks of spoilt brat rich club throwing their toys out the pram.

Are you really comparing a situation where a player was NOT wanted at his parent club, barely played for the club in like three years and had been on loan for a year at the club in question... to what Chelsea have done with Stones?

Do you realise how monumentally thick you are if you think the two situations are even remotely comparable? Our players were talking about Lukaku's impact whilst at Everton the season prior FFS - what did you want them to do, completely ignore he was here?

REPORTER: "What are your thoughts on Lukaku - he had a fantastic season for Everton last year."

Let's look at the differences in this situation.

Lukaku:

- Lukaku had already been on loan to us for a year
- Mourinho was actively looking to offload Lukaku
- Martinez/the players spoke about the relationship with Lukaku forged over the loan period and how they appreciated him and would love him back

Stones:

- He has no affiliation with Chelsea Football Club in the slightest
- Martinez fully intends to keep him
- Mourinho/Cahill/Terry are speaking about how great, awesome, super cool it would be if Stones joined Chelsea and how much he'll win and how good he'll get
