It matters because the Democrats win on turnout in this country. When people are enthusiastic about a candidate, they stand in those four-hour poll lines designed to discourage them from voting. When they aren't, they don't.

I live in GOP territory in a red state. My precinct might contain 300 people. I walk five minutes to the polling site, cast my votes immediately, and walk home. If it rains, I drive. My votes never count, in the sense that I haven't voted for a winning candidate (meaning the Electoral College for president specifically) in a general in over a decade, but no one's stopping me. On demographics, the odds are I vote Republican, so they let me do it without fuss.

That is the experience of many Republican voters, but it is not that of a sizable minority of the Democratic base.
This is pretty much my exact situation as well, only my precinct is considerably bigger than that. I’d never waited in any sort of line prior to 2020, but even that was largely down to massive turnout and COVID slowing things down. Had to wait a couple hours again in 2022, but only because of technical difficulties with some of the voting machines. I imagine normal service will be resumed this fall, but I’ll probably just do early voting to save the hassle.

I think the argument that she's Gore 2.0 (just plain unlikable) has legs. The Republicans, historically, have been good about coalescing behind whoever ran second in the last presidential primary at the top of their next ticket. They know that person can win votes. It helps that they're much more comfortable running an older politician eight years down the road.

Democrats often seem to want a fresh face. Whether there's a viable flavor-of-the-month come primary time is a little hit-and-miss. When there is, people like JFK, Carter, Clinton and Obama win. When there isn't, well...

I think a lot of the resentment comes down to the fact that many people thought they were voting in Biden for a single term solely to defeat Trump, at which point Trump would be political manure and the Democrats could pick someone more to their liking in a 2024 free-for-all. One problem is that a proper heir apparent hasn't emerged, which often happens to the Democrats. Newsom's the closest thing they have, but he's a little left for a general.

Biden would be a lot more likely to step down if the party had someone polling +6 against Trump.
It might have legs but it's not the point I was making.
He called her a diversity hire incapable of winning elections.
I was just pointing out that whether she's like-able or not, she's there on merit.

I also hate the term 'diversity hire' being used in the pejorative sense.

While people are distracted by Donald Trump’s almost half a billion dollars of court awarded civil damages, with a further 4 Criminal trials yet to place place; no-one’s asking - where these 17 audio files of Biden admitting to bribery are?

Did those 17 audio files of Biden accepting bribes ever turn up?

It was talked about in here a lot, but I never ended up hearing them.

Suppressed by MSM I suppose.

There was some hardcore posting in here, promising us that damning evidence of the Biden Crime Families’ various crimes was imminent. I guess they’re waiting for the opportune time to release the kraken.

Absolutely dreading tonight. Mrs. PF and I won't even watch because it's never a good look for him to speak. I don't want him to do any press conferences or talk in public until mid November.
He did pretty well last year. It helps that he doesn't have to take questions. The fact that the bar for Joe tonight is, "Can he keep his focus long enough to read the speech written for him?" is quite sad though.
