The 10 drugs covered under Part D selected for negotiation for initial price applicability year 2026 are: Eliquis, Jardiance, Xarelto, Januvia, Farxiga, Entresto, Enbrel, Imbruvica, Stelara, and NovoLog.
That's a good list.
It IS a good list (I know this is in your wheelhouse). I work with a large senior care practice in various long term care settings and this will make a significant difference for the folks we serve.
For most of our patients, this will help. Their drug costs are paid by the LTC facilities from their per diem reimbursement, so lowering those will have a good effect. For our pts in independent living or assisted living facilities, you are quite right who have co-pays, the benefit will be further on. Of course, it will also be interesting to see how this affects Part D costs, etc in the future.I'm not sure yet how much it will benefit patients. This doesn't change their copay, unless they have a co-insurance. It will change how much Medicare pays - still extremely important since it's going to go bust sooner rather than later. For patients, I think the impact will be felt on when or if they hit their donut hole.
