January Transfer Window 2026

Yes but now you’re comparing a 31 year old to a 28 year old. And still, personally I think that is a big enough age gap to justify spending more on the 28 year old if they’re a similar quality.
Well it was just the easiest example to use of the top of my head while trying to keep the discussion relevant to Everton, it wasn't a deliberate choice of ages. As I've said, i'm not disagreeing with the basic principle of it, just saying I'm not sure i'd see it as particularly worthy of comment. I thought he may not have realised the players ages so commented, it's not really a big deal either way.

Well… at least we tried…

We're absolutely waiting until the Summer to sign somebody, and that's not being a pessimistic blue.

Without sounding like an FSG Trojan Horse, January is the hardest window to recruit properly. Clubs don’t want to sell, and the only players available are either overpriced, not good enough, or a panic buy.

Is it frustrating seeing other clubs do business? Yes of course. But the difference is, a lot of those clubs are operating from a completely different position financially and structurally. We can't afford to gamble, and lest us not forget there is some absolute dross we need to shift.

It's gonna take a while to sort this squad out, let's just be glad it's not Moshiri on the phone these days.

Has there been any hint of a link to Sacha Boey? I'm sure I read that Bayern were prepared to move on from him.

That said, he's not played in the Premier League, is a bit too attacking and isn't 6ft+ so won't get past Moyes' filters.

Cheers Bill.

This is all fine, but does nothing to explain the open loan slots we have available to use.

I know it’s not as easy as snapping your fingers but it being a World Cup year, I’m sure there has to be some players that can come to support the areas we need on temporary deals.

Are they saying that there isn’t a single winger or full back in world football that can come in on loan and improve the squad for this season? Just reeks of a lack of ambition, all lip service

Well this didn’t go very well.
