Is it the 2nd February this year? Probably be more like 1200 pages and zero signings then! That's OK. We'll bring in loads on 2nd February just before the window slams shut.

It’s like a third of your career as a top flight fooballer, if you’re one of the lucky ones.Mateta is 29 in June, so the difference is more or less 3 years. That’s significant in a football career.
I mean it's obviously semantics to some extent but personally I wouldn't say it counts as 'much younger' to the level that I would factor it into the value of a transfer. If we announced in the summer that we'd decided not to spend £50m on Grealish but were going to spend £55m on a 28 year old instead because he was much younger, I'd say the logic didn't really make sense to me.Mateta is 29 in June, so the difference is more or less 3 years. It's the net £5m spend that is the key factor here - there's an argument that they've achieved a significant upgrade here : certainly from a contractual perspective, arguably from a talent perspectiveI mean it's obviously semantics to some extent but personally I wouldn't say it counts as 'much younger' to the level that I would factor it into the value of a transfer. The love we shared with him for 5 minutes yesterday was a lifetimes worth.
Farewell Wesley, may Sociedad be a happy home for you.
Don't worry, he'll make it into next season's rumour mill too!

I predict at least three will have started by Monday lunchtime. But which one will remain unlocked?!I'm hoping the summer transfer thread starts this weekend in advance!
No I don't necessarily disagree, I just thought maybe you were under the impression that one of them was older or younger than they actually are, that's all. As I said, to me 26 to 28 isn't really a big difference age wise in terms of how much development you've got left in you, how quickly your levels are going to drop off etc so I wondered if maybe you thought the gap was bigger than that and so the value aspect becomes more significant. It's the net £5m spend that is the key factor here - there's an argument that they've achieved a significant upgrade here : certainly from a contractual perspective, arguably from a talent perspective
