Well I’m not excited about it but is he potentially a better option off the bench than what we’ve got ?

I’m not saying I can’t wait to sign him but would we look stronger with him ?

Not for me given his age and injury record.

His age isn't an issue for a few months surely. Injury record maybe. I just don't trust our guys one bit to scout a decent goal scorer - I'm thinking best case scenario, until end of season is to get a proven scorer from the prem in, just to get us to the summer.

Maybe, but I think if you said to some of these lads ‘want to start in the PL’ they’d swap their academy benches. We should have been in earlier with Delap before Ipswich took him. At one point even Kane was being overlooked by Spurs and farmed out on a load of loans.

We played it exactly right with Lukaku, offered a young top prospect who was frustrated at lack of game time at Chelsea a chance to be the main main, and just at the price point to make Chelsea fold. We’ve not done that since though. Lukaku had a huge ego as well so if we could do it with him there’s no reason it wouldn’t work on others.

I never really get this argument. I’m not even sure the claim has ever been probably corroborated but even if it has that type of deal happens all the time, it’s not like we wouldn’t have chosen lukaku over ba, if it happened it’s just that the availability of the players hadn’t been made clear to us in advance.im no lover of Martinez but it’s such a weird stick people try to beat him with.
