January Transfer Window 2026

It took years to offload the Moshiri-era players that were considered overpriced and overrated. We are in a new era now, free of points penalties and extremely strict transfer budgets.

So what did we go and do?

Bought a fresh crop of dross to yet again hold us back!

Dibling, Beto, Barry, the list goes on. When will we learn? We either have no pulling power, a poor transfer committee or both!

If current links are to be believed, then I see we are desperately hunting in the bargain CD/DVD basket at Woolworths again.

Pay more, see less
Dibling is like 19 mate. He’s played about 4 games for us.

Barry is only 23. Yes looks a bit clumsy but is defo being told to drop back as a striker and not lead the line. He should be sticking to the last defender and stop dropping into the number 10 position.

Beto did okay when we played to his strengths. At the moment we are giving the ball to Grealish who is great at holding it up but isn’t very good at feeding a ball through quickly.

I agree they all haven’t done well but you can’t go writing them off, especially Dibling and Barry.

We've got people writing off players that haven't even signed for us based on the country they were born in or the league that they are currently playing in.

He signed a 12 month deal at west ham so not sure why he’d want a longer one here . However Say he did want a year from today , paying him off for 6 months to go at potentially £6k a week basic isn’t catastrophic.
Six month deal with a 12 month option if he makes enough starts/goals....

Easy enough to get out of if it goes wrong

It's not a progressive signing though is it? It smacks of the recruitment team giving up on finding a proper solution and just settling for a cheap stop gap. If we're happy staying lower midtable then sure he'd be fine but if we want to show any ambition then he'd be a terrible signing
If we're being realistic about who we could actually get, I think he'd be a really good signing for the rest of the season. He'll score 5 goals and maybe more importantly be able to show Barry what a proper premier League striker needs to do. Assuming his body can last, but beggars can't be choosers.

I can see your point and yes I could see him scoring 5 goals easily but if he does well we'd give him a contract extension and before we know it he'd be leading our forward line next season too which isn't great

Well yes, this is true, I was working on the assumption that we'd be sensible about it but I suppose I should've realised that's unrealistic
