January Transfer Window 2026

Who knows. Just quite like him as a player, and surprised Villa already letting him go.

PSR still causing them issues, so not beyond realms of possibility they’d of done a similar deal with us…
It's PSR and SCR - the latte3r being the biggest issue. Also, because of the squad rules for UEFA competitions, if we were to bring anyone in then someone already in the UEFA squad would have to be taken out before that player can be added. So PSR isn't killing us in having to let anyone go, it just means that we can't spend what we'd like to. We've literally reached the ceiling and UEFA/PL have decided we go no further. Look at the Gallagher deal. We'd agreed on a loan to buy for £25m then Tottenham offer £35m and its done. Zero we can do about it because the rules prevent us from spending more. Welcome to modern football (which I guess you know all about...)

Do pay as you play even exist ?

They are illegal mate, you have to be given a wage.

You can have contracts with a small wage with high incentive based clauses, goals, mins played etc.

It’s why you see contracts described as heavily incentivised as opposed pay as you play.

Wilson was on such a heavily incentivised contract at WHU, which is why he left he wants something better than that.

It took years to offload the Moshiri-era players that were considered overpriced and overrated. We are in a new era now, free of points penalties and extremely strict transfer budgets.

So what did we go and do?

Bought a fresh crop of dross to yet again hold us back!

Dibling, Beto, Barry, the list goes on. When will we learn? We either have no pulling power, a poor transfer committee or both!

If current links are to be believed, then I see we are desperately hunting in the bargain CD/DVD basket at Woolworths again.

Pay more, see less

Don’t forget, we’ve also bought a whole data analysis company to stop other clubs using the bloke who owned it. Probably for millions when FM Genie Scout is only $5. Looking forward to the links to the next Freddy Adu 😀
Aston Villa got Madjo. The next and better version of Lukaku Something i hoped Everton had on there radar. But no they are trying to get Wilson lol….

If no young strikers with potential ability are available then its a no brainer to get an experienced goalscorer like callum wilson. He would naturally be a short term upgrade on what we have already

He hasnt even played a professional club match. How can you possibly already say hes potentially better than Lukaku. Based on the very little evidence of his ability, he probably has an under 3 percent chance of making it to Lukakus level

Signing a striker on a short term deal or loan is a very smart thing to do given the performances of out current 2 options.

What's the point in persisting with something that isn't working if there are low risk, low cost options to try. What's the worst could happen. They also don't perform so they leave in June?
