January Transfer Window 2026

Have to agree with Mr Pivote on this. There is so much flapping going on right now. We have spent nothing for 6 years and we spent a little bit in the summer. This is going to take a while. Let’s enjoy the fact that we are not in trouble for once, desperately looking at Burnley’s results every week.

Only discovered this weekend that he's now actually head of recruitment at Walsall

It's hilarious that we've got 530 pages in this thread when our CEO said months ago we won't be signing anybody and our manager has pretty much reiterated that. Let's limp through to 15th in the league before failing to sign all of our targets again next summer and blaming "the market" for starting next season with no right back again.

….you’re posting in it

January is famously a difficult market etc

….i get the impression this is more about the willingness to bring in new players than attempting to bring in new players. Ticking over safely in the league and out of the cup could nullify spend.

Ndiaye will obviously improve us immediately but I think the continuing loss of KDH is having greatest impact. I’d be sure we’d still be in the cup and accrued more points only for his absence and that won’t be remedied in a transfer window.

I pretty much agree with that, although the guy does have a tendency to have a ' I know better than all you little minions' manner of talking about things

Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko, McNeil & Beto were all important parts of a 'not very good side' over the last 4-5 years.

They are now the whipping boys as some of the players who have come in (Dewsbury-Hall, O'Brien as a centre back, N'Diaye, Grealish are better than the mand produce better results, plus some players have stepped up a little with improved players around them (Iroegbunham , Garner)

The dross will get replaced eventually if they cant meet expectations (hopefully)

Apart from Kelleher, Collins, Henderson to name three who make up the backbone of the team
Brilliant scouting there, Bournemouth, Palace, even Brighton. Quality brought in and cash made in moving players on is great ( mbueno, the manager, dude at Newcastle, Caicedo, semenyo, eze, guehi probably ). Our star defender hasn't kicked a ball all season!

Interestingly, Villa are 600m over 5 seasons to crack the top 4 without having really sold anyone for huge bucks.

So there's the top 4 vs Europe places costed out in terms of buy to sell vs build.
