January Transfer Window 2026

ben white would be great but can’t see him joining this window, on course for winning a title and arsenal can’t afford to not have him as cover, and hes not chasing a wc spot

to not have a right back in for leeds is neglect at this stage

james justin scored last night for leeds and seems to be playing really well, another one we were interested in

Given the choice I'd have chosen signing no one over signing James Justin last summer every single time

I pretty much agree with that, although the guy does have a tendency to have a ' I know better than all you little minions' manner of talking about things

Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko, McNeil & Beto were all important parts of a 'not very good side' over the last 4-5 years.

They are now the whipping boys as some of the players who have come in (Dewsbury-Hall, O'Brien as a centre back, N'Diaye, Grealish are better than the mand produce better results, plus some players have stepped up a little with improved players around them (Iroegbunham , Garner)

The dross will get replaced eventually if they cant meet expectations (hopefully)
Good post.

Out ASAP:

- Patterson, prob McNeil, (Myko is a squad player, keep maybe )
- Beto
- Keane
- Seamus goes with huge respect, but legs done. Top guy.
- Be ready to ship Branthwaite for top dollar once fit to accelerate the fixes elsewhere

= 80m+ the lot

Develop, but not starting

Adnan, Dibling, Rohl. Armstrong, Tim Iroegbunam. Keep only 2 or 3 max.

= 20m

So there's 100m on the table NOW for players not adding or even playing much.

That's a decent CF and probably LB and RB, too.

2?
45 minutes in i was asking if we kept the receipt.
Call bs on this, noone on here said this after his debut.

Hes not the answer tho...
I'd also bet the 27 year old castellanos
who scored less than beto in Italy isnt the answer either. And suggesting he is after a goal against qpr in the cup....
Recency bias

You’re not going anywhere getting the likes of James Justin and for me Ben white is a CB that’s not good enough to play CB, so has been moved to RB, better than O’Brien at RB, but again he’s had a lot of injuries, loan if it’s the best we can do, but we shouldn’t be buying him

A squad so small that we name 2 gk on the bench and still can't fill it, yet you want to sell 8 or 9 players to bring in 2 or 3.

The drugs must be pretty good round your area

Brilliant scouting there, Bournemouth, Palace, even Brighton. Quality brought in and cash made in moving players on is great ( mbueno, the manager, dude at Newcastle, Caicedo, semenyo, eze, guehi probably ). Our star defender hasn't kicked a ball all season!

Interestingly, Villa are 600m over 5 seasons to crack the top 4 without having really sold anyone for huge bucks.

So there's the top 4 vs Europe places costed out in terms of buy to sell vs build.
Jhon Duran was sold for HUGE bucks, but agree they that Villa have evolved their squad well season by season. Similar to Newcastle, they have probably hit their PSR limits though using the model they have signing more established players for quicker progression.

You can call whatever you want lol. After about the 4th shin bounce on beto's debut it was a hmmm have we just paid 20m for him moment. I think there were quite a few thinking the same.
Dont take castellanos comment so serious. Its a first reaction looks decent opinion.
Its not a big deal.

Bonkers

Haha, which bit though?

I see smaller clubs trade there way into Europe and bypass Everton every season.

I lived in Brentford for years and watched them grow, and studied on the South Coast for years and went to various clubs locally. Palace have yoyo'd. These clubs are -tiny-.

Bigger clubs like Newcastle, West Ham have dipped down a division in recent times. But now all these clubs, small or larger have won things, or been in Europe.

Ok West Ham twitchy now / and Wigan etc have gone the way of Pompey, who are climbing back.

The others are solid. Not being prepared to make player decisions results in the stagnation we've witnessed here, where Michael Keane is considered an ok player ,or Beto. That's bonkers.

Don't think anyone's ever thought that - he was "an option maybe" at best. Getting rid of DCL and keeping him was a massive risk, but luckily we added Barry, who is also with the same status.

I thought my memory had gone lol. I cant remember a single person who thought Beto was the answer after 2 games. Bambi on ice i remember reading a lot.

He's not going to get us to Europe, but Keane has been an important first team player this season and selling him immediately would leave us short. Same with Mykolenko. Similarly, we may not rate McNeil, Beto and Patterson, but selling them all immediately would make our squad much weaker. We have a paper thin squad and you're recommending selling 8-10 first team and squad players in order to replace them with 2-3 players, that's bonkers.

It's a cliche, but there aren't quick fixes here. We need to be making smart investments over time and trying to clear out dead wood when we have the opportunity to do so at a decent price. It's especially important that we're investing smartly in young players, which is why it's so disappointing that Dibling is struggling so badly. On the other hand, we have signed some young players recently that have worked out well: Garner, Ndiaye, O'Brien and even Iroegbunam all look like smart investments given the relatively low cost.

Thats shipping out up to 9 player to fund incomings of 3 players. Squad is nowhere near big enough and thats before implementing the madness you have suggested.
